Don Bleek’s Top 5 NYC Hot Spots

Growing up in the NYC area and being one of the most prominent Hip-Hop bloggers and journalists, I’ve gotten the chance to visit some of the best places in New York City. I also interviewed platinum and gold-selling artists and been to some of the dopest concerts in the city. I decided to share some of my favorite stores, clubs and restaurants in New York City. R

1. Atmos

In my opinion, Atmos is the dopest sneaker store in Harlem. I always go there to get the newest and most exclusive sneakers. Whenever I go there, I leave with about 3 pair of sneakers. True story, my sneaker collection is about two stories. They’re located on 125th Street.

2. Dallas BBQ’s

I’ve been eating at BBQ’s since I was a little kid. My family and I used to and still take the train to Manhattan from South Jersey, just to eat at BBQ’s. They’re located right in the heart of Time Square on 42nd Street. There’s is also another one location on 23rd and 8th Ave. Their hot wings are the BEST!

Wale Speaks On Tupac & The Current State Of Hip-Hop

Last night, Maybach Music Group recording artist Wale took to his Twitter account @Wale and shared his thoughts on the current state of Hip-Hop. Also, Wale spoke about how legendary rapper Tupac connected with several audiences, more than any rapper. Read Wale tweets below:

I think Tupac connected with several audiences, more then any rapper, ever….and. I doubt anyone will Ever connect that way again. Rap was way different back then…fans showed a lot more love, nowadays people treat rappers like pro teams.

In Hip Hop, they designate [one] rapper a year to be great. There’s so much anger [and] hatred in the consumer nowadays plus “bein a rapper” is as easy as finding a mic and camera.

sometimes, when underground artist get mainstream success… original fans abandon [them], because “its not cool” to like someone on the charts. Back in the day when [you] had passion in [your interviews] or songs, they said [you] were PASSIONATE..now they say [you’re] whinning..#checkurself

Lost boys had a single, that was a story “Renne”. How far [do you] think a story record will get you now, as a single. How amazing was Reasonable Doubt? How many people would turn [their] back on [an] amazing album [because] HipHopdx said it “undersold

Hiphop “enthusiast” hate on certain artist because [they’re] not using “big words”. IN MY OPINION connecting [with people] is [more important] then vocabulary

So caught up in nostalgia, we can’t appreciate the present, til its the past #hiphop
