Celebs Style: Rappers In Balenciaga Sneakers [WHO ROCKED IT THE BEST]?

Balenciaga was founded in 1914 by Cristóbal Balenciaga, a Spanish designer, born in the Basque Country, Spain (Source). Since then Balenciaga became one of the fastest growing brands worldwide. The upscale brand is now owned by Gucci. The men line of Balenciaga sneakers are really dope. If sneakers were my drugs, Balenciaga would be my drug of choice. I am addicted to these sneakers. Below I have a list of 5 artists wearing Balenciaga sneakers. Who do you think rocked them the best, vote below:

Music artist and fashion icon Kanye West was spotted court side at the Lakers Vs Heats game, wearing a pair of all white $525 Balenciaga sneakers. Kanye wore his Balenciaga sneakers with a pair of Alitalia Sport 550 sunglasses, black button down shirt, black leather pants and jacket.

Back in January, Hip-Hop mogul Shaw “Jay-Z” Carter was spotted leaving the Mercer Hotel in Manhattan. Hova was styling on them lames in a pair of $535 Balenciaga Sneakers. Jay matched the sneakers up with a black leather Gucci jackets, grey sweater and some PRPS destroyed denim.

Fashion Exclusive: Jay-Z’s Rocawear Buys Billionaire Boys Club

Jay-Z is more than a business man, he’s my idol and a marketing genius as well. According to GQ, as of today Wednesday (July 3), Jay-Z’s Rocawear owns the licensing to manufacture and distribute Billionaire Boys Club. Sources say that Jay-Z and Pharrell, the current face and force behind BBC, will work as a tandem—utilizing Jay-Z’s business prowess and Pharrell’s creativity.

This is a dope collaboration. I can’t wait to see some pieces from the Fall/Winter 2011 collection.

UPDATE: Whoever controls Jay-Z’s official Twitter account @S_C_ tweeted that Jay-Z is partnering with Pharrell’s BBC, NOT buying it. Peep the tweet below:

Nice Cover Story: Waka Flocka Interviews Tyler, The Creator For Interview Magazine

Odd Future’s front man, Tyler the Creator recently did an over the phone interview with Waka Flocka Flame and Dimitri Ehrlich for Interview magazine. Tyler, the Creator talked about what is so odd about the future, if  Odd Future a hip-hop heavy-metal group or a punk-rock rap group and how did the group get the name OFWFKTA. Tyler also talked about doing the things that he and his band mates rap about in their lyrics. Below are some excerpts:

FLAME: Well, I’m gonna ask you a couple questions.

TYLER: Sick. I’m ready. I just wanna state, though, that “Keep It Real” is, like, my favorite fuckin’ song by you. That’s, like, in my top 10 songs ever. That’s my shit. You throwin’ it out there. Okay, so now you could start the whatever.

FLAME: All right. So firstly, what do y’all think is so odd about the future?

TYLER: What’s odd about the future? I think we’re all gonna die pretty soon, and the animals are gonna take over—like ostriches and shit. I think they’re gonna take over the world and we’re gonna be their slaves.

FLAME: So would you describe Odd Future as a hip-hop heavy-metal group? Or a punk-rock rap group?  How do you describe what you and your crew do?

TYLER: I don’t like either description. I don’t like being put in a box. I just make music, you know? When you’re put in a box, people have a set mind-state of what your music could sound like before they even look into it. Like, if no one ever heard of me, but I’m hip-hop-metal-rock, then they’re already gonna have an expectation of what the music will sound like. Then, when they go in and finally listen to it, it might be different from what they thought, and they could automatically hate it because they already had expectations.

FLAME: Do y’all actually do any of the stuff y’all talk about in your lyrics?

TYLER: Well, I don’t rape chicks . . . I have punched a girl in the eye . . . Um . . . What else? I say a lot of shit and it just depends . . . Sometimes it’s just ’cause shit is funny.

Enjoying Rides At The Amusement Park: Nicki Minaj Goes To Six Flags

While in the NYC area for the “Femme Fatale” tour with Britney Spears, femcee Nicki Minaj took time from her busy schedule to spend a day at Six Flags in New Jersey. Six Flags is the world’s largest amusement park. The company maintains 14 properties located throughout North America, including theme parks, thrill parks, water parks and family entertainment centers (source). I’m pretty sure Minaj’s pink wig and chuncky heels caused a lot of pandemonium.

Making A Comeback: DMX Is Working On A New Album & Says “[There’s] a lot of whack rappers out there. It’s too corny.”

Since being released from prison last month, rapper DMX has been working “nonstop, everyday” on his forthcoming LP, titled Redemption Of The Beast“I kind of took it back to how I felt on my first album — the hunger, the energy, the hardness of it,” says DMX.

Producers like Swizz Beatz, Dame Grease and Caviar have contributed beats to the album, although the rapper says that he has mostly been at the studio laying down rhymes by himself.

“I’ve had a lot of late nights in the studio, getting it in, getting it back to where it’s supposed to be,” says DMX. The rapper also notes that the lyrical focus of the album will be “bringing hip-hop back to where it’s supposed to be. It’s not at a good place right now… [There’s] a lot of whack rappers out there. It’s too corny.”
