He Had A Great Year: Wiz Khalifa Talks About Topping The Hot 100

This was the year that Billboard celebrated the 1000th No. 1 song on the Hot 100. As they look back on this year in music, They’re celebrating that milestone with a month-long series of videos — one for each day of December — chatting with 31 of the hitmakers who rocketed to the top of the chart since its inception in 1958.

Billboard: The Juice recently chatted with Wiz Khalifa about his No. 1 —  early  2011’s “Black and Yellow.” “Just to know that we can accomplish something like that with something that I made up in my head, feels great,” said Khalifa.

Wiz Khalifa’s single, which peaked at No. 1 on Feb. 19, came naturally to the rapper. “When I did it, I knew it was catchy. It was the first thing that came to my head as soon as I heard the beat,” he said. “I didn’t take any time to try to go over it or do it over. I just went with the first thing that I was thinking of.” “Black and Yellow” also became the Pittsburgh Steelers Super Bowl anthem since the song is an ode to the city’s black and yellow colors.

Styling On Them Lames: Diggy Simmons Rocking Band of Outsiders Jacket, Wendi Reed Cardigan & Prada Boots

Earlier in the week, Queens native Diggy Simmons stopped by 106 & Park to premiere his new video “Do It like You” Ft. Jeremih. While on set, Diggy was spotted styling on them lames. He was rocking a $2,860 Band of Outsiders Shearling Hoodie Jacket, $690 Wendi Reed Knit Stripe cardigan, Gant Oxford Button shirt, Nudie Denim jeans, Prada Boots, and Miracle Icon accessories. The Atlantic Records signee is in the studio working on his debut album. In 2009, Diggy released his first official mixtape, The First Flight, which gathered more than 100,000 downloads. Because of the success of the mixtape, five record labels showed interest in signing him; Diggy chose Atlantic Records. This kid is dope and I am a fan of his music. I wish him the best in all of his future endeavors.

Don Bleek Exclusive: “Love & Hip-Hop” Is Expanding To ATL & Diamond Will Be The Main Cast Member

According to industry insiders, Love & Hip-Hop executive producer, Mona Scott-Young has BIG plans for 2012. She will be taking her talents down to ATL and launching a spin-off to Love & Hip-Hop. I am hearing that Atlanta’s female rapper Diamond will be the main cast member. The show will be based in Atlanta, GA and is in the beginning stages of development. ATL femcee Rasheeda and Yung Joc’s former assistant Rici have all been “tapped on the shoulder” to sign on for the show, alongside Diamond. I am also hearing that the producers of the show want Diamond to be herself in front of the cameras, but her publicists would prefer to finesse things a little bit.

Stay tuned to YDBR for more details, story developing.
