The Naked Truth: Kimbella Speaks On “Love & Hip-Hop,” Erica, Chrissy, Dating Fabolous & Much More

Tonight is the finale of season 2 of Love & Hip-Hop. Juelz Santana’s baby mother Kimbella became a problem the very first episode of the show. She had a fight with Chrissy and Erica Mena. Kimbella’s name is constantly thrown in the mug and a lot of negative things have been said about her in the past. Necole BITCHIE caught up with Kimbella last week. She talked about Love & Hip Hop, why she felt the need to tell Emily that she slept with Fabolous, Chrissy and her aspiring career as a pop singer. Below are some excerpts:

So this is your first season on L&HH, what are your thoughts thus far?

Of course it wasn’t what I expected. I don’t think there was any way I really could’ve been prepared for it but I’m really happy. But I do wish I wasn’t as nice as I was. I wish I would’ve shown my more aggressive side.

Your more aggressive side? You’ve been involved in a few conflicts already…
Yes but that’s what I mean. People take my kindness for weakness. I don’t judge anybody. Basically people pre-judge me. And watching it, I realize I should’ve had my guard up with each individual. I’m not as nice as they made me seem. Anything that comes my way, I do not back down. I hold my own. I don’t care who you are I’m gonna fight for who I am take it or leave it. Some of the girls wanted to judge me and they didn’t know me and it’s pitiful.

Ok, let’s go back to your first episode. You came to a party thrown by Emily and sort of dropped a bomb that you’d previously been involved with Fabolous. Whose idea was it to tell her?
I came in there wanting to tell her, this was my second time seeing Emily. I knew she knew, I’d heard that she knew. So I wanted to tell her and just get it out in the open before someone else brought it up. I wanted her to hear it from me. And the thing is, what they don’t show you is Emily came to me later and said, ‘Thank you for telling me cause I‘d seen your name in his phone and I was gonna ask you about it.’

Picture Me Dope: Rapper A$AP Rocky & Fashion Designer Jeremy Scott Cover Complex’s February/March 2012 Issue

A$AP Rocky is really doing a great job at branding himself. Since being introduced to the world, this past summer, the 22-year-old Harlem native have been working nonstop. He signed a $3 million deal with RCA/Pologroundz, toured with Drake, released his debut mixtape LiveLoveA$AP, collaborated with some of the dopest emcees in the game and now he is covering the February/March issue of Complex with fashion designer Jeremy Scott. Written by Joe La Puma, the issue hits newsstands February 7th. Below are some excerpts:

You’ve name-dropped Jeremy in a bunch of songs. When did you first notice his designs?

Around 2008. We started doing the whole thing. He used to come out with Mickey Mouse shit, three tongues, African patterns and shit. I started getting exclusive shit from France. I liked it so much because the only way you can find it is if you go on eBay, and you’re paying double. There’s no way an average person is gonna have it.

Jeremy, you’ve collaborated with some major players in rap. How does it feel to be co-signed by A$AP, one of the leaders of the new generation?

I’m very appreciative. I love hearing the stories about what my work means—not only to him, but to the kids he came up with. His friends, all of Harlem. For me that’s my ultimate goal: to touch people’s lives. The real people on the street. Of course I love having accolades from the fashion world and I’m thrilled with Rihanna and Gaga and Katy and everyone wearing my clothes. But when the real kids are using their money—

You both push the envelope in your respective fields. Is that what’s most important to you, doing your own thing?

A$AP: My own thing is all that matters to me. And it feels good when I get props for doing what’s best for me. I like when people admire it and relate to it.

Jeremy: The only box I’m in is a shoebox. That’s my challenge every time—to push the boundaries, to constantly be challenging, and at the same time doing what I feel is right. It’s easy to make something absurd. Sometimes people say, “Whoa”—like what I’m doing is crazy. It’s not for everyone. I have a special role and I take it deadly serious. I spend my life, all of my waking hours, working and thinking and trying to create and perfect new ideas.

Monami Entertainment: Do You Really Know Mona Scott-Young?

Entertainment mogul and Love & Hip-Hop‘s executive producer Mona Scott Young started her career almost 20 years ago. She linked up with Chris Lighty over at Violator Management when she was doing artist development.  Lighty asked Young to help him transition from Rush Management to Violator/Def Jam Records. She saw an opportunity with the artists that were formally signed to Rush needing management and formed Violator Management. The rest is music history. Young left Violator four years ago to focus more on entertainment and launch Monami Entertainment. Below are some excerpts from Young’s interview with The Source:

What made you initially want to enter the music industry?

It’s not really something I pursued but once the opportunity presented itself I jumped in head first with no parachute. I love this business. I don’t think any other profession offers the same freedom and limitless potential for entrepreneurship. It’s been a great ride and I can’t even imagine myself doing anything else. It was all about answering the call when Destiny came knocking.

Did you feel you would have to work twice as hard being a black female in a male dominated business?  Were any male counterparts threatened by your business savvy and smarts?

I think there is definitely a double standard for women in every industry. It’s just the way it is but I can’t truly say that I’ve ever subscribed to that thinking or allowed it to hinder my potential for success or what I’ve set out to accomplish. The men in this business have a tendency to stick together and look out for each other. Unfortunately you don’t find many situations where they provide those same avenues and opportunities for their female counterparts. Whether it’s because they are threatened or intimidated, I’m not sure, but hopefully I’ve managed to illicit the respect that my dedication and hard work deserves. I don’t look for handouts, I’m happy to work for mine but I expect that work to be acknowledged and properly compensated.

Styling On Them Hoes: Kim Kardashian Wearing A Pair Of $995 Christian Louboutin Pumps & Carrying A Birkin Bag

Reality star Kim Kardashian was recently spotted arriving for dinner at Cipriani restaurant in NYC. As always, Kim was styling on them hoes. She was wearing a $995 pair of Christian Louboutin Daffodile platform pumps and carrying a Hermes Birkin bag. These bags are very expensive and cost anywhere from $10,000-$150,000. Kim was also wearing a $399 Versace for H&M black studded gold leather trench coat jacket. Are you feeling Kim’s look? I respect Kim’s brand. She is doing a great job at branding herself. She turned her 15 minutes of fame into six years, over 12 million followers on Twitter and almost $65 million last year alone. You can’t knock her hustle.
