All Glammed Up In Spring Colors: Brandy & Monica Looking Flawless On The Cover Of Ebony Magazine’s June 2012 Issue

Successful Grammy Award winning singers Brandy and Monica are looking flawless on the June 2012 issue of Ebony Magazine. On the cover, Monica is wearing a yellow dress, blazer and silver belt, while Brandy wore a pink dress. Both of their hair-dos are looking good and their make-up is on point. Inside, Mo and B talks about their collabo, “It All Belongs To Me’”, as well as their individual singing styles and why working together after 14 years was perfect timing.  Brandy, however, opens  up a little more about her personal life. She talks about her boyfriend and little brother Ray-J. This issue hits newsstands in May. Below are excerpts:

Brandy On Her Boyfriend Ryan

I wish we were engaged. He’s taking a little long on the ring side of things, but I’m patient.  I wanted to impress him. I wanted him to be proud of me; I was inspired by him. So making the record and his being there, it’s just all a part of it. Him and my daughter. I want him to love my songs. I want him to love my voice.

On Her Brother Ray J
I know who he is. And I”m pissed off about some of the things I’ve been hearing. It really bothers me that [those are] the kind of things that people do for money.

He’s misunderstood. It’s one thing to have this image of [a ladies’ man], but it’s another to become this other type of person that they’re trying to make my brother out to be. I know who he is. This is a man who loves his mama and his sister and his niece. Ray J loved Kim Kardashian. They were irresponsible with their–you know–but he loved her. For five years, he was with her.  In his mind and in the world’s mind, he was in my shadow for such a long time. To watch his sister become whatever I became and to not have that same path or that same way it happened for me; to be called ‘Brandy’s brother…’ To finally break out of it, you’re going to brag; you’re going to feel something about yourself. It’s not coming from a bad place, and I can tell you: Some of the shoes Ray J’s walking in, you’d take off immediately. You wouldn’t be able to handle the type of shoes he’s in.

New Music: Lola Monroe “Dark Red Lipstick”

I actually like this track! Taylor Gang’s first lady LoLa Monroe recently released her new track “Dark Red Lipstick,” which was produced by Rob Holladay. The D.C. native also samples TLC’s “No Scrubs” on this uptempo singing/rapping track. I respect Lalo because she never gave up her dreams as a rapper, even back when people doubted her, radio wouldn’t play her and other artists didn’t want to work with her. She came a long and proved to the people that she is very talented. Listen to the track below:

Reality Check: La La, Kandi & Mona-Scott-Young Are Worth Millions

Reality television is one of the fastest ways for the regulars to become celebrities overnight. At the same time, it is a very tough and stressful business. Some reality stars are actually very successful and making millions while others are barely known and only make $5,000 a month. La La Anthony, Kandi Burruss and Mona Scott-Young are a few of the successful ones who manage to build their brands, or expand their existing empires, based on their participation in reality television. BlackEnterprise.com Decodes the financial gain of some of reality TV’s most notable personas.

Lala Anthony got her start as a radio disc jockey and eventually achieved mainstream recognition as the co-host of MTV’s Total Request Live. After acting as the host for the laundry list of VH1’s reunion shows, La La delved into the reality TV world as the star of La La’s Full Court Wedding(2010), which later transcended to La La’s Full Court Life (2011), a series that chronicles her career and marriage to NBA star Carmelo Anthony. La La’s net worth is an estimated $9 million but she’s working on other ventures, such as her makeup line, Motives by La La and acting career, that should give her income an even bigger boost.

Long before achieving success on The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Burruss established herself as a veritable singer/songwriter and businesswoman, starting asone-fourth of ’90s R&B group Xscape. Now holding a net worth of $35 million, the entrepreneur juggles several businesses that transcend the music industry. She’s launched a line of sex toys called Bedroom Kandi, opened TAGS, a clothing boutique in Atlanta, continues to write music for popular artists and recently forayed into the TV world as executive producer for her own show, The Kandi Factory that’s set to air on Bravo’s new lineup.

Scott-Young is best known for running Violator Management, a company responsible for the success of iconic artists like Missy Elliott50 CentBusta RhymesLL Cool J and more. However, after leaving Violator she created Monami Entertainment, an artist management company that doubles as the production company responsible for VH1’s hit show,Love & Hip-Hopwhich is currently taping its third season. Her net worth is said to be $30 million.
