DON’T Compare Emily B To That Other Chick Mimi From Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta

By now, I’m pretty sure most of you know who Emily B is! In case you have been hiding under a rock, she is the girlfriend and mother of rapper Fabolous son. Emily was first introduced to the world on VH1‘s ‘Love & Hip-Hop’. She starred in the show for two seasons before calling it quits a few months ago. Love & Hip Hop premiered a spin-off show, Love & Hip-Hop: Atlanta back in June. I DON’T watch that show but I do read about it in blogs. For whatever reasons, people compared Mimi (Stevie J’s girlfriend and daughter’s mother) to Emily. After doing my research, I came to a conclusion that both women had story lines that dealt with bad relationship and drama caused by their men. However, I do not think that their stories are the same and neither does Emily. In fact, DON’T compare Emily to that other chick because she do not like it. In a recent interview with Hello Beautiful, Emily spoke on people comparing her and Mimi. Below are some excerpts:

There’s a lot of people who say that this new season of Love & Hip Hop has the same formula as your season of “Love & Hip Hop.” How do you feel about that and do you feel there’s a mirror image?

You know I get a little upset when they compare characters because I’m nothing like any of those women. My story is not like any of those stories. I don’t see Fab in any of those men in that show at all. No offense to them, but nobody knows [how it is]. Y’all get to see the Stevie J’s and the Lil’ Scrappy’s and nobody really knows who Fab is or what he does or what he’s about. People just make assumptions and it really bothers me because he was never on camera for you to make that assumption so people really don’t know.

Everyone is like Emily B–she’s that Mimi character, she’s staying with Fab…What do you feel about that? Does it make you angry?

I mean I spoke to Mimi and watching her I felt for her. I understand how it feels to love someone and feel that pain, but I’ve never been through anything that she’s been through. Fab only has one child with me so I don’t know what that feels like to have a man with many. I’ve never dealt with anything on that level in my life. Her story is a strong powerful story that I can’t even imagine going through.

So what’s Emily B up to–life after “Love & Hip Hop?”

Well right now I’m filming a spin-off to “Love & Hip Hop.” Me and Chrissy are filming a project. I won’t go into too much detail, but we have a project coming out in the Fall which is going to be a totally different. I mean, same producers but different feel–more of a family-fun loving show.

Lala and her son Kiyan made their way across the pond to visit Carmelo Anthony in London. Lala accompanied her husband Melo around London as he prepares for tonight’s game against Nigeria at 5:15EST. Rocsi Diaz Styled In Issey Miyake For YRB; Speaks On The Misconception Of Her & Life After ‘106 & Park’

Rocsi Diaz of BET’s 106 & Park is preparing to exit her hosting role this fall. YRB Magazine recently caught up with the Latina beauty. Styled in Issey Miyake’s latest collection, Rocsi posed in a few pieces including a jumpsuit, dress pants, tied up shirt and dress. During the interview, Rocsi talks about the misconception of her and life after 106 & Park. Below are some excerpts:

“I’m not what people think I am. People see a persona on television and they tend to think that is how people really are, when in actuality, we are all just human beings. I’m a very spiritual, humble and down-to-earth person. There is so much more to me than what meets the eye.”

“I see myself continuing to host and be a part of the entertainment world. It is something I have grown to love, and I truly enjoy it. I have also ventured into the realm of acting, as well as writing and producing movies. I’m currently filming, as well as shopping around the very first film that I produced, and I’m really excited about it.”

“Always follow your passion. Look at the people that came before you. Study the greats and practice, but most importantly, try to set your lane. Don’t settle for trying to be the next me, but instead become the best you.”

Big Sean Talks ‘Cruel Summer’, “Mercy”, The Meaning Of “Swerve” & His New Album With Complex

Big Sean is living out his dreams! The Detroit native rose from the streets of D-Town to the top of the music industry, where he currently sits with his mentor Kanye West. As I previous reported, Sean is in the studio working on his sophomore album which arrives soon. In an interview with Complex, Sean talks about G.O.O.D. Music collaborative album Cruel Summer, the single “Mercy”, the meaning of his ad-lib “Swerve” and much more. Below are some excerpts:

Let’s talk about the spirit of competition. Where will Cruel Summer rank amongst the great hip-hop compilation albums?

Big Sean: I just feel like we’re the best. I’ve heard a lot of the collaborations. I’ve heard what people have been doing. Of course you’re going to listen to it and try to make your music the best, so that’s what we’ve been doing—making our music the best it can be. The best quality, the best raps, the best concepts, and it’s going to be unique.

As a crew, G.O.O.D. Music is taking it to levels that really haven’t been done collectively. Kanye is someone who knows how to make classic albums, a true thinker. He got me in the mindset of being a true thinker and always planning out every move you got going.

Is it true that your “Mercy” verse started out as a random freestyle for Kanye?

Yeah, I was really freestyling with Kanye backstage at the Watch the Throne tour and he was like, “Man, you got to say this on the record.” I was like, “Man, I ain’t about to say that. I just put out ‘A$$.’ I don’t need to be talking about no ‘ass-quake, ass-tate.’” But I just laid it to see how it sounded and then for a while, there were no other verses on “Mercy.”

It was just my verse and we were vibing to it, so it naturally fit on there. I don’t really write any of my raps down. The same, Kanye don’t write any of his raps down. Common. It’s easy that way. For me, personally, I figure I will lose some of the inspiration in the time of me writing it down or I’ll say it a certain way because I wrote it a certain way. When I go in there and do it, it’s easier for me.

Watch My Style: Tika Sumpter & Big Sean Wearing Fly Pieces

This past Tuesday (July 31), Kelly Rowland debuted her TW Steel Kelly Rowland “Special Edition” watches at The Standard in NYC. The beautiful Tika Sumpter was in attendance. For the event, she got fly in Mara Hoffman Aztec Printed High Waist Pants which is currently on sale at Neiman Marcus for $109. Tika paired her pants with Jimmy Choo sandals. I like Tika, give her a few more years and she is going to be one of the hottest actresses in Hollywood.

Rapper Big Sean is having a G.O.O.D. time. He is in the studio working on his sophomore album which arrives soon. He recently instagramed a picture of himself wearing an Adidas Originals by Opening Ceremony Paisley patchwork tee-shirt which retails for $115 at SSENSE. Do you like this shirt?

Pharrell Williams & Mark McNairy Joins Forces For ‘Bee Line For Billionaire Boys Club’

Music producer and fashion designer Pharrell Williams joins forces with menswear designer Mark McNairy for a new line called Bee Line for Billionaire Boys Club. In GQ, the duo talks fashion. Some highlights are below:

Making the Band

Mark McNairy:
“I always liked what Pharrell did with Billionaire Boys Club—it’s like preppy streetwear. We started by collaborating on one shoe. We talked about doing clothes, and eventually it evolved into a full made-in-the-U.S.A. collection.”

The Line Between Streetwear and Menswear
McNairy: “In my head, there is no line.”
Pharrell: “I don’t know lines. I understand the concept, but it’s just not fun to work inside a box.”

Working with Pharrell
McNairy: “I came in confident. Then I started hearing how picky Pharrell is, so I got a little nervous. We had our initial meetings and decided what the direction should be. When I took all the prototypes to Miami, he loved everything.”

Working with McNasty
Pharrell: “He’s very quirky and a quiet guy, but also funny as hell. Within all that quirkiness, he’s very confident. The man just clicks.”

The One Piece That Says It All
McNairy: “It’s definitely the gold- and silver-sleeve varsity jackets. I was in the factory and saw a metallic scrap on the floor. I ran to 35th Street, bought the leather, and bam.”
