New Music: Big Sean “Guap”

G.O.O.D Music’s collaborative album, Cruel Summer was good as far as songs, productions, lyrics and quality but it didn’t make the impact that most people expected. Since that project is almost forgotten about, Big Sean decided to release “Guap” which serves as the first single off his sophomore album, entitled Hall Of Fame: Memoirs Of A Detroit Player. Young Chop and Key Wane handled the production. Hall Of Fame hit stores and digital retailers on December 18. Listen to the audio below:

Tameka ‘Tiny’ Harris Covers Rolling Out Magazine In A Gold Floor Length Gown

Singer, music mogul and business woman Tameka ‘Tiny’ Harris is covering the latest issue of Rolling Out. On the front cover, Tiny gets glammed-up in a gold floor length gown. Inside, she talks about being a mother, wife, business woman, evolving herself, how to keep things hot and fresh in a relationship and much more. Below are some excerpts:

In the moments leading up to ’s cover shoot with Tameka “Tiny” Harris, the talented singer, wife and businesswoman huddled in a corner with me to discuss our strategy for her photo shoot. We covered the best way for us to portray everything that she had going on in her life — from artist management to motherhood to a successful VH1 reality show.

It’s common knowledge that you have gone from being just an artist to a woman who is intimately involved in so many aspects of the entertainment industry. How do you continue to evolve and add these impressive notches to your belt?
I think a large part of it is that I actually love what I’m doing. I enjoy being behind the scenes when it comes to the music, and I think that one of my greatest achievements is creating the OMG Girlz. I say that because I built them from scratch, so seeing them evolve and grow means so much to me … it shows me that my hard work and ideas are paying off.

Being a businesswoman seems to come easy to you, but how have you balanced that with being married? After being in a longtime relationship (with rap star T.I.), has marriage changed anything?
A lot of people say that things change — and maybe my husband might say something different — but I don’t really see much of a change. I just feel like I’ve been doing some of the same things as a married woman, that I was doing years before … so it’s kind of like continuing on with the papers now. Honestly, I’m just enjoying it. I’m enjoying being called a wife, because it’s different than just being in a relationship … it feels a little better now.

Tell us about the first time you heard him call you his wife, and you were officially married. How did that make you feel?
I was kind of like ”damn, that’s me.” I felt like a lucky lady and I love it every time I hear it. It just does something to me … it sends a signal to my body and tells me to jump all over him whenever possible [laughs].

Well, it’s important to keep things hot and fresh in your relationship. Can you share some tips for other women who may struggle with how to keep things spicy in their own relationships?
You have to try new things and be open and talk about things that you’re interested in. You also have to talk about things that he’s interested in and see if you guys can come to a happy medium, and just get wild … that brings a little something extra to the bedroom.

Do you consider yourself a role model, or is that something that you don’t want any part of?
I don’t really consider myself a role model, but there are people that tell me I’m their role model. And you know what, I will accept that, and I will take it with pride. I’m grateful if anyone wants to consider me a role model. But I always want people to be better than me … if I’m doing something that you want to do in life and you feel like I’m doing good at it, that’s great … just do it better.

New Interview: Diamond Talks Turning Down Love & Hip Hop: ATL, Her Relationship With Soulja Boy & Much More

I haven’t heard too much from Diamond since she got dropped from two labels. I didn’t even know that she was still getting booked for shows. I’m sure her budget isn’t big! The Atlanta rapper who was rumored to be wearing flea market Christian Louboutin shoes recently chopped it up with The Jasmine Brand about her upcoming projects, the biggest lesson she learned in the music industry, dating Soulja Boy and turning down Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta. Below are some excerpts:

On her upcoming album:

Working on my album…I’m about to drop The Young Life, which is my LP. I shot about three videos, and I drop one video tomorrow-called American woman. So I’m working on getting the visuals together. I’m going to do about 10 or 11 videos, in the mean time I’m working on my album.”

On the biggest lesson that she learned since being in this industry:

I have a lot of lessons. But my biggest one is to make sure that you have a lawyer to look at your paperwork. We had a situation where, someone was stealing money from us and also there was a cease and desist on our project because at the time my management didn’t pay one of the writers who wrote on the album. We had no idea, we were touring, and so we had to sit out about 9 months until that actually got worked out. I think that it’s really important to make sure you have a lawyer. I know sometimes you can be eager to get the deal done, eager to get the money but it’s not worth it. So I would suggest that everybody get a lawyer.

On her relationship with Soulja Boy:

That’s my best. We’re best friends. His ambition, his drive to challenge himself to take on other challenges not just musically. It’s him being a businessman and matching his brands with other things. I want to say he’s one of the first ones that initiated me to think on that level, when I started spending more time with him.”

On why she turned down Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta in the past:

I didn’t know what I was getting myself into. I don’t like to go into things blind. It’s weird. Because God is really dealing with me. I know that having faith, you have to step out sometimes and trust that, whatever you do, whatever decisions you make, whether it’s a bad one or not, he’ll turn around and make it into something positive. So now that I realize that. But at that point, I was a loose cannon. So anybody that would have came at my any kind of way, or if I won’t have reacted the way that I wanted to, I’m still an artist. So I didn’t want to do anything to temper my brand. Now I’m calmer, I think. I still have a temper but I think before I get mad. I think in a political way. As women we’re so emotional. But as man, they cannot get along with someone but still get this money together. So that was a combination of things and I didn’t really have the control to, have a lot of say so in my image.”
