Queens, New York rising rapper Chris Jones releases his new street anthem “Been Trill“.
Jones is from New York’s notorious Queensbridge Houses, the home of platinum selling recording artists including Nas, Mobb Deep, Capone, Comega, Roxanne Shante, and Tragedy Khadafi. Jones started rapping at a young age after he was influenced by the famed rappers from his Queens neighborhood. During that time he was only making music as a hobby and dreaming about being a rapper, then one day Jones realized that he can turn his music dreams into a reality and pursue it as a career. He eventually developed his own signature style by combining and intermixing the sounds from his role models such as Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, Kanye West, Diddy and Fabolous. In 2010, Jones successfully began his career as a music artist and soon released his debut mixtape, Creative Control which was hosted by popular mixtape DJ, DJ Mick Boogie. The mixtape was well received by music critics and impacted the underground music world. It also caught the attention of major music publications including The Source magazine. The publication also named Jones as one of the top “Hot Up & Coming Rappers“.
Jones signature style is what set him apart from other artists and his music peers. Because of his lyrical abilities, Jones is able to switch styles like chameleons that changes colors. His music represents many faces and appeals to all individuals from people who struggled to the street hustlas and women. With his music, Jones aspires to take his talents worldwide and leave a positive message in his music. “Creative Control” was created as a representation to Hip-Hop and its growth. At one point and time, Jones felt like Hip-Hop was becoming a watered down industry to the point where artists weren’t rapping about anything that was relevant. Therefore, Creative Control was a statement to the industry saying “he had complete power on what was on it”.
