NFL player Dez Bryant is feature in a fashion spread for Flaunt magazine. Despite his rough upbringings, Bryant followed his passion and turned his dream into reality. Now the 24-year-old Texas-native is the starting wide receiver for the Dallas Cowboys. With his career on the rise and breaking NFL records, experts are saying that Bryant can be the best receiver in the NFL with ease, even by the end of this current season.
Bryant’s fashion spread for Flaunt was shot by Davis Factor and Leila Baboi handled styling duties. Bryant styled in designers including Giorgio Armani, Belther Sulphur, Diesel and Dolce & Gabbana. In the interview, he talked about his rough upbringings, entering the NFL draft, always dreaming of becoming a professional NFL player and much more. Below are some highlights:
On growing up in Lufkin, Texas:
“Growing up in Lufkin, you know, it wasn’t easy, but I don’t regret it” .
On if his youth in Lufkin prepared him for his stardom at Oklahoma State University:
“Truth be told, I didn’t know [much]. After my junior year, a lot of schools were interested, any school you can think of…and I started to get nervous. I never thought about me, Dez, going to a major university.”
On 2010 Draft Day:
“The whole draft process, it was crazy for me. I damn near visited every team.”
On becoming a professional NFL player was always his goal:
“I told my mom, ‘I’m going to the NFL. I’ll never have a job, you won’t ever see me working,’ and I never had a job.” He then added, “It’s crazy, the same feeling I had when I was nine years old [about football], that feeling has not changed.”
