NBA Fashion: Russell Westbrook, Kevin Durant & Lance Stephenson Styling In The Limelight

The self-proclaimed “fashion king” aka Russell Westbrook styled a short-sleeve white hoodie with $420 Christopher Kane Creature sweatpants. He completed his ensemble by adding a pair of Air Jordan 3Red October‘ sneakers.

If these sweatpants look familiar it is because Amar’e Stoudemire last wore them here, Ne-Yo rocked them here and Kendrick Lamar also wore them here. You can get these sweatpants at MatchesFashion.

Kevin Durant looked dapper in a camo blazer layered over a black shirt with waxed denim jeans and Timberland boots.

Lance Stephenson is ready for game day! His outfit of choice was a black sweatshirt paired with dark denim jeans. He also carried a Louis Vuitton luggage bag.

Allen Iverson Officially Announces His Retirement From The NBA; Watch His Emotional Speech

From the rough streets of Hampton, Virginia to becoming one of the greatest NBA players of all time and after 14 years in the National Basketball Association, legendary baller Allen Iverson has officially announced his retirement from the league. Earlier today Wednesday (October 30), the 38-year-old gave his official retirement speech via a press conference at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, where he starred for the 76ers.

In my opinion, A.I. broke down barriers and changed the league/NBA after first being drafted in 1996 by the 76ers. He also took an a$$-kicking for being himself, looking the way he looked and dressing the way he dressed. Now when you look around, a lot of the NBA players have tattoos and cornrows. A.I. took a beating for those types of things but it’s not how you look on the outside, it’s who you are in the inside and how good of a player you are on the court. He was 100% Hip-Hop and represented the streets/inner cities and I don’t think the NBA was ready for the kid.

I grew up in South Jersey, 15 minutes across the bridge from Philadelphia and A.I. was iconic. We looked up to him. I remember when he used to come to my junior high and high school in his Bentley. This is an emotional moment for myself and a lot of A.I. fans. I’m shedding a few tears as I watch A.I.’s speech.

In his 12-minutes emotional speech, A.I. thanked God for giving him the opportunity to be drafted, talked about his greatest moment being in the NBA which was being drafted, making it from Hampton, Virginia, always believing in himself and how his mother always told him that he can be whatever he wanted to be and he believed it.

He also thanked his coaches, Michael Jordan for giving him a vision (MJ made A.I. want to play basketball, showed him the way and gave him the path that he wanted to walk on), former teammates, the fans in Philadelphia and most importantly his family and friends. Watch the emotional speech below:

Is He The Canadian LeBron James? Andrew Wiggins For GQ

College basketball player Andrew Wiggins of the Kansas Jayhawks is featured in the latest issue of GQ magazine. Wiggins is one of the nation’s top college and pro prospect. The Thornhill, Ontario-native is receiving as much hype as Lebron James was receiving back in 2003 when he first came into the league. Most likely Wiggins will enter the 2014 NBA Draft, be considered the favorite and selected the top pick. With much buzz surrounding the 18-year-old college basketball player, the endorsement market for him is getting bigger and could be bigger than it was for LeBron James when he was a rookie. Wiggins already has a $180 million Adidas shoe deal offer.

In his interview, Wiggins talked to GQ about being compared to LeBron James, respecting Kevin Durant’s game, keeping his teammates involved and making them better, not being a selfish player and much more. Below are some excerpts:

The problem with all the YouTube highlights is that they’re not quite good enough—technically, that is. Not enough pixels, frames, angles. Even in slo-mo, the first steps, the crossovers, the behind-the-backs, are so fast that it’s often impossible to figure out what the hell Andrew Wiggins is doing out there. It’s the speed, of course. (Hot genes: dad an NBA baller; mom still owns the Canadian record in the 200 meters.) But it’s also the silkiness. Big as he is, Wiggins almost never throws his 197-pound frame around. Unlike LeBron James, who weighed 240 pounds in high school, Wiggins is no monster; he’s a wraith. Which may be one of the reasons the kid from Toronto is loath to make the comparison.

“Aw, it’s not fair to even say my name in the same sentence as his,” says Wiggins during his first week of classes at Kansas. “I haven’t even played one game of college ball.” Is there another player who’s more comparable? “I like Kevin Durant’s game! Ain’t nothing he can’t do. Shoot. Has a handle. Plays D. Scores at will. Durant, man! Has that killer instinct.”

Interesting, that last bit. Some have seen Wiggins’s ability to shiver through defenders without touching them as an unwillingness to knock heads and stake his claim as The Man. “Anybody who has ever watched me knows that I get my teammates involved, that I make them better,” Wiggins responds. “I’m not too selfish or unselfish.”

Asked, after calling himself a “child of God,” if he ever wonders to his Creator, “Why me?” Wiggins gives a sheepish laugh, then says, “Nah.”

The Good Life: College Basketball Player Andrew Wiggins Has A $180M Adidas Shoe Deal Offer

College basketball player Andrew Wiggins of the Kansas Jayhawks made his YDBR debut last week as he covered the latest issue of Sport Illustrated. See the original post here. Now it is being reported that he has a A $180M Adidas shoe deal offer.

In 2003, I was a kid playing basketball inside of my junior high school gym. During that time, one of the biggest if not the biggest topics in sports was a kid named LeBron James from Ohio. He was preparing for his NBA debut, having signed a three-year, roughly $13 million contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers and a seven-year, $93 million sneaker endorsement deal with Nike.

A decade later, Thornhill, Ontario-native Andrew Wiggins is receiving as much hype as Lebron was receiving back in 2003. After being recruited by Florida State University, the University of Kentucky, and the University of North Carolina, Wiggins decided to attend the University of Kansas, where he currently plays for the Jayhawks. Most likely, he will enter the 2014 NBA Draft, be considered the favorite and selected the top pick.

With much buzz surrounding the 18-year-old college basketball player, the endorsement market for him is getting bigger and could be bigger than it was for LeBron James when he was a rookie.

Everybody is excited about (Wiggins’) talent,” a source associated with Under Armour said. “From everything you see or hear, he’s the next kid coming into the NBA that’s going to demand, on talent alone, a significant amount from a brand. That type of commitment and interest for a rookie has really died down since LeBron and maybe Kevin Durant being the last one” via Bleacher Report.

According to Bleacher Report, Adidas has pegged Wiggins as their prime target—and they would be willing to open up the bank for him. Of course, no meetings or official offers can be made until Wiggins declares for the 2014 draft after his season at Kansas“.

(Adidas) is easily the front-runner, 100 percent,” said Rich Lopez,’s publisher.

From what I’m hearing, (Adidas) is really high on him,” an industry source said, according to Bleacher Report. “I’ve heard a range for sure, from like $140 to $180 million for like 10 years. That’s a big deal for a kid coming out of school because most rookie deals are probably like four years.”

Bleacher Report also reported, “I’m hearing from people at Kansas that he’s got a $180 million offer supposedly coming from Adidas,” a source close to Wiggins’ inner circle said. “But I also heard that Nike is going to match anything.”

Should Wiggins go with Addias or Nike?

Kansas Jayhawks Baller Andrew Wiggins Covers Sports Illustrated

Are you shocked? We don’t often see a freshman gracing the cover of Sport Illustrated before the college basketball season even begins. #NewRules! Kansas Jayhawks baller Andrew Wiggins, the nation’s top college and pro prospect covers the latest issue of Sport Illustrated.  The cover also pays homage to Wilt Chamberlain and Danny Manning and reads “The Freshman: From Wilt…To Manning…To Wiggins. A Torch Is Passed At Kansas“. Below are some excerpts:

Andrew Wiggins, a 6-foot-8, 200-pound versatile forward from outside Toronto was the No. 1 prospect in the class of 2013 and is widely considered the likely No. 1 pick in the 2014 NBA draft. The once-in-a generation talent has Kansas fans in a frenzy, but it’s not the first time a first-year Jayhawk has had that effect, writes Luke Winn in this week’s Sports Illustrated “

Winn compares Wiggins to former Jayhawk greats Wilt Chamberlain and Danny Manning. “The notion of what Andrew Wiggins could be, if he can cultivate a relentlessness to pair with his talent, is why he is being received differently — even at a school that’s won nine straight regular-season Big 12 titles and has two other potential first-rounders in guard Wayne Selden and center Joel Embiid,” writes Winn. ‘Even in a college town that’s seen this already, twice.'”

In fact, Kansas coach Bill Self told the freshman star when he arrived on campus in June that, ‘if you handle this right, you could potentially have everything you ever dreamed of and go down as one of the most loved athletes to ever come through this university.'”

Usher For Men’s Health 25th Anniversary November 2013 Issue

Grammy Award winning R&B singer Usher has put his music career on hold to focus on his starring role as Sugar Ray Leonard in Hands Of Stones. While training for his role in the film, Men’s Health caught up the Atlanta singer for a fitness shoot at Gleason’s Gym in Brooklyn. Below are some highlights and pics:

On keeping his body in shape:

I train like an athlete every day, believe it or not.”

My second day I decided to ride to the gym,” 10 miles from his home in Atlanta. “So I rode there. Boxed. Rode the bike back home.”

Mentally, I’m the type of person who can ignore the pain. Put it somewhere else and allow my body to just go there,” he says. “But I always suffer. You can’t box, ride a bike for 20 miles in the heat—Georgia heat—and then go to the studio and rehearse. That’s not happening.”

My commitment to this character demands that I not only physically get ready, but also become him,” he says. “The hair, the personality, the manner he conducts himself in—all that. He’s an incredible man.”
