The Revolutionary Reign Of Nas: The Hip-Hop Legend Covers Clash Magazine

Legendary international Hip Hop star Nas was styled by designer Charlie Casely-Hayford for the December 2012 issue of Clash magazine. For this issue, Nas was shot by famed photographer Hayley Louisa Brown and styled in pieces by designer brands including Casely-Hayford, Astrid Anderson, A. Sauvage, Dominic Jones, Hannah Marshall and Mr. Hare. Inside, the London based publication gives an insight into the Def Jam artist’s 18 year career. This issue is on newsstand now! Below is an excerpt:

It’s the last days of the London Olympics and Nas is in town. Tomorrow he’ll witness the USA men’s basketball team win a gold medal. But today he’s in Hackney, Dalston, to be exact, explaining why 2012 was the right year for him to release an album. “It’s an interesting time,” he begins. “[Music] comes out the way it comes out, you know? I never plan it to get it ready; music speaks to me in a way that tells me, ‘It’s time to do it again’. I never know when it’s time.” After eighteen years of recording, these days he feels less pressure when it comes to the reception of an album. “Nervousness left a long time ago, except for the good butterflies you feel about to do something exciting. It’s just a good feeling and it’s cool to think that every time I put out a record, the sounds are more seasoned.”

His Success Came Overnight: A$AP Rocky Covers Clash Magazine First Ever Dual Issue

His success came overnight and it couldn’t come any faster. A year ago, A$AP Rocky was just a regular young man in New York, because of his talents, he went mainstream. Last October, the 24-year-old Harlem native signed a reportedly $3 million deal with RCA/Polo Grounds. His visuals gathered millions of views online and he also has been featured on the cover of some of the biggest music magazines. Rocky recently added another magazine cover under his belt. He is covering the first ever dual issue of Clash Magazine. The split concept piece focuses on the Hip-Hop star and his rise to fame. For the covers, Rocky was shot by British artist Matthew Stone. In the 10 page cover story, Rocky talks about being more than just a Hip-Hop artist (he is a video director, fashion icon and artist), racism in Hip-Hop, A$AP comparisons to Wu Tang and much more. This issue hits newsstands July 5. Which cover to you like better?
