The Harlem Diplomats Are Set To Perform At NYC’s BB King Blues For ‘Dipset 10th Year Anniversary’ Concert

1264

This Monday (March 25th), Harlem’s rap duo The Diplomats are set to perform at NYC’s BB King Blues for their 10th Anniversary Concert. The event will be hosted by New York’s Hot 97’s DJ, DJ Funk Master Flex. Tickets are $40 in advance at Ticketmaster and $45 at the door. Below are some excerpts from BB King Blues website:

The Diplomats, (also known as Dipset) are a Harlem, New York-based group who previously signed to Roc-A-Fella Records, but now are signed to own their label. Founded by rappers Cam’Ron and Jim Jones, the group released their debut album Diplomatic Immunity under their imprint Diplomat Records. The group’s sophomore album Diplomatic Immunity 2 was released under Koch Entertainment. Juelz Santana currently is the only member still signed to Diplomat Records and Def Jam Records.”

“One of the defining elements of the Diplomats’ music is the innovative slang they have incorporated into their lyrics. They also coined the greeting, “What’s Really Good?”. Many of the rappers were signed, and were premiered in mixtapes, but the Diplomats did not become exclusive until 2003 with their CD Diplomatic Immunity.”

Dipset’s New Album Dropping On Independence Day

Harlem’s Capo Jim Jones recently  revealed on MTV Rap Fix that the long-awaited Dipset reunion album will be dropping  this Independence Day, July 4th. Jones will also be dropping his new album Capo on April 5th. I can be wrong and don’t quote me on this but I think Jones is changing the name of his new album to Fly Guy. Dipset hasn’t released an official group LP since 2004’s Diplomatic Immunity 2. I am very interested in seeing what the mighty Dips has to offer this time around. How do you guys feel about the Dipset reunion LP?

Jim Jones Talks Kanye West, Jay-Z & Upcoming Dipset Mixtape

In a recent interview with Vibe magazine, Harlem rapper Jim Jones shared his thoughts on Kanye West and Jay-Z’s collaboration album Watch The Throne, admits that Jay-Z is one of the nicest to ever do it and gives an update on Dipset’s upcoming mixtape.

On Watch The Throne.

I ain’t gon’ front, on the last few tracks, Kanye had been getting the best of Jay, and that’s just from a fan’s point of view,” Jones told Vibe on Thursday (Jan. 6). The Harlem rapper has had a long-standing feud with Jay-Z, and recently patched up differences with Kanye West, contributing to the G.O.O.D. Music/Dipset posse cut, “Christmas In Harlem.”

Whatever it is, they both goin’ to be sharp—trust me,” Jones says before hearing “H.A.M.” “It definitely ain’t gon’ be a one-way street. It should be good for music, good for hip-hop, as long as they don’t start rapping about too much strange shit.”

How is the Dipset album coming?

It’s going down, believe that. We’re still recording songs but you don’t have to worry, the Dipset album is happening big time. You can bet your last dollar.

Is it officially coming out on Interscope?

I wouldn’t say officially, officially is a big word—shouts to Interscope, Jimmy Iovine, Dr. Dre and everybody on that side. Just sit tight.

Can you let us in on any songs that you guy have recorded? I mean we all saw the pics with Dre.

We got a joint called “Anticipation” that yall should love. The vibe is good just being back with my band of brothers. I also got my album, Capo, coming out on Feb. 22nd. I’m going in for the kill next year [laughs].
