BREAKING NEWS: Frank Ocean & Crew Run Up On Chris Brown; Chris Defends Himself By Punching Ocean In The Face

chrisfrank1

This needs to really stop before someone gets hurt! In the past, Chris Brown & Frank Ocean had issues but I thought they made peace. Apparently, they didn’t! Over this past weekend, Brown and Ocean got into a fight in Los Angeles over a parking spot. It is being reported that Ocean and his crew started the fight by blocking Brown from leaving, which resulted into Brown punching Ocean in the face. Below is how TMZ is reporting the story:

Chris Brown was involved in an all-out brawl with Frank Ocean Sunday night, and sources connected with Chris insist Ocean started it. Chris was at Westlake Studio in the L.A. area listening to one of the artists he represents.  The sources say as Chris went to leave, Frank Ocean and his crew blocked Chris from leaving. The sources say Frank said, “This is my studio, this is my parking spot.” We’re told Chris went to shake Frank’s hand … and that’s when one of Frank’s people attacked Chris.  Sources connected with Chris say one of Chris’ friends jumped in front and hit Frank’s friend. Sources connected with Chris say Frank then came at Chris … Chris pushed him away and they started brawling. The police were called and are on scene now.

UPDATE 10:45PM PT: Police have cleared the scene. We’re told Chris Brown was not there when officers arrived — but they did speak to Frank Ocean. At this point … we’re told no one wants to press charges, and no arrests have been made.

UPDATE 3:00 AM PT:  Cops say they will continue to investigate and want to speak with Chris Brown.  They refer to Ocean as “the victim” because he’s the one who stuck around and spoke with police.  Ocean said the fight started over a parking space (how L.A.) and Brown punched him.  There were 6 people involved in the fight.

Frank Ocean’s Spread & Interview In GQ; Speaks On Past Issues With Def Jam & Crying After Confirming His Bisexuality

Singer and songwriter Frank Ocean name has been in the media ever since confirming his bisexuality this past summer. His Channel Orange album also topped the charts. When you’re in the public eyes, it is so hard to live your private life. I respect any man who is comfortable enough in his own skin to share his sexual and personal life with the general public. Ocean is currently working on projects with Alicia Keys and Beyoncé. He is also gearing up to embark on an European tour. The Def Jam signer is featured in the latest issue of GQ Magazine. Inside, he speaks on his past issues with his record label, moving from New Orleans to L.A., crying after confirming his bisexuality and much more. Below are some excerpts:

On moving from New Orleans to L.A. with just $1,100 in his pocket:
I had been putting together these demos that I was going to properly record in a real studio in L.A. So I saved up money doing Sheetrocking, and I drove out with my girlfriend at the time. I was only supposed to be there for six weeks. I don’t feel like I ever made a conscious decision to stay six years. You just kind of roll. The first four and a half years was me in the studio every day, writing songs for other people.

On how he started writing songs for Brandy, Justin Bieber and John Legend:
We’re talking about hundreds of things that happened. One night, I went to a listening party just to pick up my backpack from a friend. Next thing I know, I’m in this studio, and everybody’s putting their laptops on the pool table, playing songs through these big-ass speakers. It was crazy. And they wanted me to play, so I plugged in, and they were like, “Oh shit.” There were producers there, and they said, “You should come up to the studio and write.” So I did. I’d sit in those rooms for hours.

On Def Jam reportedly signed him as a recording artist in 2009 but didn’t open up its checkbook at that point to help him record and meeting Odd Future:
I was at a real dark time in my life when I met them. I was looking for just a reprieve. At 20 or 21, I had, I think, a couple hundred thousand dollars [from producing and songwriting], a nice car, a Beverly Hills apartment—and I was miserable. Because of the relationship in part and the heartbreak in part, and also just miserable because of like just carting that around. And here was this group of like-minded individuals whose irreverence made me revere. The do-it-yourself mentality of OF really rubbed off on me.

They inspired you to record your first album, Nostalgia, Ultra, on your  own dime and release it for free, right?  Def Jam had signed Lonny Breaux,  then this Frank Ocean guy puts out an  Internet sensation that makes a lot  of best-albums lists. When they tried to sign you again, was it satisfying to say,“Oh, you already have”?
Yeah, I just told them, “Give me $1 million if you want the next album.”

Celebs In Paris: Frank Ocean Hangs Out With Fashion Designer Karl Lagerfeld In The City Of Light

R&B singer Frank Ocean has been quiet since confirming his bisexuality and the released of his chart-topping Chanel Orange album. The Def Jam signee booked a flight and flew to Paris to hang out with upscale fashion brands Chanel and Fendi’s creative director Karl Lagerfeld. The twosome was photo’d together at a Chanel event in the City of Light. It is good to see that the fashion industry is embracing the R&B and Hip-Hop culture. I think it will be dope to see Frank and Karl collaborate on a line together. Any thoughts?

First TV Performance: Frank Ocean Performs On Jimmy Fallon, ‘Channel Orange’ On ITunes Now, Don Bleek Speaks On Frank Ocean’s Record Sales

This guy is still trending! Last night Monday (July 9), Def Jam recording artist Frank Ocean made his TV debut on the Late Night With Jimmy Fallon. During his first televised TV performance, Ocean performed his latest track “Bad Religion” with Philly’s own The Roots. “Bad Religion” is an emotional song about love that is not openly reciprocated or understood being like bad religion. Channel Orange is now available on iTunes (a week early) and in stores July 17.

Some people are wondering if Ocean’s bisexuality announcement would hurt his career or not. It is my opinion to say that it is a new day and age in Hip-Hop; Ocean’s story is changing the face of Hip-Hop. I don’t think him revealing his bisexuality will hurt his career or ruin his record sales. For anything, I think he get more sort of praise and acclaim.

UPDATE #1: In less than 24 hours after being released, Channel Orange has sold enough units to reach #1 in the United States, U.K, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Norway.

He’s Getting A Lot Of Support: Hip-Hop Journalist/Author Dream Hampton Pins ‘Thank You’ Letter To Frank Ocean

Earlier in the week, I reported that Frank Ocean opened up about his sexuality, then I posted that Ocean revealed his first love was a man in a letter posted to his tumblr blog. Since then, some music fans and people were left confused and wondering why did he chose to come out of the closet, while others supported his decision. There has been a lot of support from his peers in the Hip-Hop community and blogspheres. The Notorious B.I.G’s close friend, Hip-Hop Journalist & Author Dream Hampton (she co-wrote Jay-Z’ book, Decoded) showed her support to Ocean in a written letter penned to him from her, which was published on Jay-Z’s Life & Times website. AllHipHop Founder/CEO Chuck Creekmur weights in as well as New York’s Power 105 Charlamagne Tha God and Russell Simmons. Read below:

Thank you, Frank Ocean.

It’s true, we are a lot alike… “spinning on blackness. All wanting to be seen, touched, heard, paid attention to.” In your opening few lines, you simultaneously established your humanity, a burden far too often asked of same sex lovers, and acknowledged that in this age of hyper self- awareness, amplified in no small part by the social media medium in which you made your announcement, we are desperate to share. You shared one of the most intimate things that ever happened to you – falling in love with someone who wasn’t brave enough to love you back. Your relieving yourself of your “secret” is as much about wanting to honestly connect as it is about exhibition. We are all made better by your decision to share publicly.
