Michael B. Jordan For GQ; The Actor Models In Rising Designer Brands

Suit, $2,540 and crewneck, $398, by Mattison. Hat by Happy Hour.

I remember hearing about HBO’s ‘The Wire’, however I do not remember watching that show. Most likely, I was either focusing on school or on the court playing basketball. Actor Michael B. Jordan was just 16-year-old when he played as Wallace (a drug dealer) on The Wire. He is also known for his roles as Reggie Montgomery in All My Children, quarterback Vince Howard on the NBC television series Friday Nights Lights, and Alex in Parenthood. He played Steve Montgomery in the 2012 film Chronicle and, in a lead role, shooting Victim Oscar Grant in the 2013 film Fruitvale Station.

The 26-year-old Santa Ana, California-native is all grown up now and showing his Hollywood adult body in his latest photo shoot. Jordan was named ‘Breakout Star of The Year‘ by GQ magazine. In his photo spread, Jordan is modeling pieces from rising designer brands including MattisonSkingraft, Public School, Stampd, and En Noir.

His photo spread came out nice! I love how he mixed up his style for a Downtown, Los Angeles blended with an Uptown, Harlem look. Enjoy the photos below:

Shirt, $330, tank top, $120, jeans, $168, sneakers, $490, and jacket (on ground) by Public School. Bracelet by Saint Laurent by Hedi Slimane.

She’s Slaying This Photo Shoot: Ciara For GQ Magazine

Before hiding her bangin’ body in oversized clothes (she’s covering up her pregnancy), Ciara flaunted her goodies in a photo spread for GQ magazine. This shoot was shot months ago by famed photographer duo Gomillion & Leupold. Cici is giving us fellas a few things to think about in these photos. Inside, she talks about her latest album, Ciara, singles “Body Party” & “Overdose,” and her style dos and don’ts for guys. Below are some pics and highlights:

This year’s been great for you. Your new album, Ciara, was a hit and “Body Party” went Gold—it’s one of my favorite tracks this year:
It’s one of those songs that happened fast, because it has such a sweet vibe. I can’t even lie, when we were mixing it, I was listening to it over and over like a fan. I don’t like using obvious samples, but it felt right—I couldn’t ignore the track the way [producer] Mike Will flipped the sample of “My boo.” It’s one of those songs a girl can sing to her man and where guys don’t have to feel too cool to slow dance with your girl“.

Is He The Canadian LeBron James? Andrew Wiggins For GQ

College basketball player Andrew Wiggins of the Kansas Jayhawks is featured in the latest issue of GQ magazine. Wiggins is one of the nation’s top college and pro prospect. The Thornhill, Ontario-native is receiving as much hype as Lebron James was receiving back in 2003 when he first came into the league. Most likely Wiggins will enter the 2014 NBA Draft, be considered the favorite and selected the top pick. With much buzz surrounding the 18-year-old college basketball player, the endorsement market for him is getting bigger and could be bigger than it was for LeBron James when he was a rookie. Wiggins already has a $180 million Adidas shoe deal offer.

In his interview, Wiggins talked to GQ about being compared to LeBron James, respecting Kevin Durant’s game, keeping his teammates involved and making them better, not being a selfish player and much more. Below are some excerpts:

The problem with all the YouTube highlights is that they’re not quite good enough—technically, that is. Not enough pixels, frames, angles. Even in slo-mo, the first steps, the crossovers, the behind-the-backs, are so fast that it’s often impossible to figure out what the hell Andrew Wiggins is doing out there. It’s the speed, of course. (Hot genes: dad an NBA baller; mom still owns the Canadian record in the 200 meters.) But it’s also the silkiness. Big as he is, Wiggins almost never throws his 197-pound frame around. Unlike LeBron James, who weighed 240 pounds in high school, Wiggins is no monster; he’s a wraith. Which may be one of the reasons the kid from Toronto is loath to make the comparison.

“Aw, it’s not fair to even say my name in the same sentence as his,” says Wiggins during his first week of classes at Kansas. “I haven’t even played one game of college ball.” Is there another player who’s more comparable? “I like Kevin Durant’s game! Ain’t nothing he can’t do. Shoot. Has a handle. Plays D. Scores at will. Durant, man! Has that killer instinct.”

Interesting, that last bit. Some have seen Wiggins’s ability to shiver through defenders without touching them as an unwillingness to knock heads and stake his claim as The Man. “Anybody who has ever watched me knows that I get my teammates involved, that I make them better,” Wiggins responds. “I’m not too selfish or unselfish.”

Asked, after calling himself a “child of God,” if he ever wonders to his Creator, “Why me?” Wiggins gives a sheepish laugh, then says, “Nah.”

Pusha T’s GQ Feature; Talks Fashion

Before being a fashion trendsetter, Pusha T was a blow dealer turned rapper. A few years ago, the Virginia-native traded in his Bapes, BBC, and Ice Cream streetswear for an upscale fashion attire. He also launched a clothing line, Play Cloths as well as opened an upscale fashion boutique in his hometown of Virginia. The “Numbers On The Board” rapper is featured in this month’s issue of GQ magazine. He talks about his sense of fashion with the publication. Below are some excerpts:

Pusha T: The Rap Menace with a Signature Flourish

Pusha’s uniform: Black on black on black…with a shock of bold color on top.

Pusha’s job: Rapping about selling cocaine and robbing motherfuckers; Kanye West acolyte.

Another approach to the uniform: Vary your outfit slightly every day, but have one signature piece. Maybe for you it’s a pair of fourteenhole Doc Martens that you never take off. Or a lapel pin you wear every day. In Pusha T’s case, it’s a graphic snapback hat by the downtown N.Y.C. label Ale et Ange, worn over the meanest braids since Allen Iverson’s. Pusha typically wears black to set off his prints—flowers, tropical plants, African patterns—none of which fit the stereotype of a gangster rapper. Which is exactly what makes the look work.

“The idea is for people to recognize you and know you for something. I think that should be the biggest thing with anybody who’s fashion-conscious: Be known for something.”—Pusha T

Robert Griffin III Styles In Upscale Designers For GQ Magazine, Says “GAY” NFL Players Should Come Out

NFL player and Washington Redskins star quarterback Robert Griffin III covers GQ’s September 2013 issue. In his photo spread, the 2011 Heisman Trophy winner styles in upscale designers including Dolce & Gabbana, Louis Vuitton, Polo Ralph Lauren, BLK DNM, Saturdays NYC, John Varvatos, Adidas, Tommy Hilfiger, Tom Ford,  Calvin Klein, Gucci and more. For the cover story, Griffin III sat with writer Brendan Vaughan at Redskins Park in Ashburn, Virginia for a candid interview. During the interview, Griffin III mentioned that he think there are “gay players” right now and they should come out.

On the growing sense an active NFL player will come out of the closet in the near future:
“Yeah, man. I think there are [gay players] right now, and if they’re looking for a window to just come out, I mean, now is the window. My view on it is, yes, I am a Christian, but to each his own. You do what you want to do. If some Christians want to look at being gay as a sin, then thinking about other women, committing adultery—or any of those other sins that are in the Bible—those are sins, too. And God looks at all of us the same way.”
