Chris Brown For JET Magazine, Talks About His Issues With Jay-Z, The Media & Rihanna/Karrueche Drama

JetCoverUPC_zpsb14689f5

Singer and actor Chris Brown is scheduled to release his sixth studio album, X this November 2013. He is currently covering the October 14th issue of JET magazine. Inside, the Grammy Award winning and multi-platinum selling artist talks about his issues with Jay-Z, the media, and Rihanna/Karrueche drama. Below are some highlights:

On his beef with the media

“The media is full of yellow journalism. A lot of things I say, they will flip it. Instead of them getting off on all the positive stuff that I do, they will bring out the negative and draw out that story.”

On his beef with Jay-Z

“No disrespect, because I’m a fan, but nobody brings up the fact that [Jay Z] stabbed somebody and sold drugs. He gets a pass.”

On Trayvon Martin

“I identify with Trayvon 100 percent as far as living in 2013 and still dealing with blatant racism. This generation is so used to racism that it’s normal; we don’t care. We aren’t on drugs or catching AIDS, but they still look at us as ni**as.”

On controlling his anger issues

“You have to go through the struggle before you can get to the good part. I don’t try to lash out at people, or be as mad or impulsive as I used to be.  I got to the point where it’s only so much you can take from the master, you feel me? I’ve taken my fair share of lashings.”

On his relationships with Karrueche Tran & Rihanna

“Relationships are the most difficult part. That’s why I was honest with those two girls and I put out that video. My ex and I broke up because of the “situation” and she had moved on. I fell in love with another girl. Then my ex came back, so it was like, ‘What is a man to do?’  I told them both the truth. I didn’t do the sucker role.”

The issue hits newsstands on September 23.

Singer Alicia Keys who has an album, Girl On Fire dropping on November 27 is covering the latest issue of Jet magazine. Inside Alicia gives an in-depth and honest interview about the pre-marriage drama leading up to her highly publicized relationship with Swizz Beatz. Below are some highlights:

On Swizz Beatz and his ex-wife MaShonda being separated before they got together:

…[They] were apart for some time before we ever got together…that doesn’t matter to those who take pleasure in trying to knock others down…there’s no need to fight what’s not true…

On her relationship with Swizz Beatz:

I’d never met a person where I could be fully myself…Swizz and I live in each other’s shadow. So we can occupy the same space and there is nothing but equality. There’s something really powerful about that.”

This issue hits newsstand this Monday (November 19). Alicia will be performing at NYC’s MSG on 12-12-12 for Sandy Relief Concert. In related Alicia and Swizz news, Huffington Post recently named the twosome one of their ‘Power Couples Of The Year’.

Keyshia Cole, Her Husband Daniel & Their Son DJ Covers Jet Magazine, Do We Love KC’s Platinum-Blonde Ponytail?

Singer Keyshia Cole, her husband Daniel and their son DJ look great in their family portrait on the latest issue of Jet Magazine. On the cover KC gets glammed-up in a pink dress and sports a long platinum-blonde ponytail, Daniel rocks a blue sweater over top of a pink shirt paired with blue denim jeans, and Baby DJ looks cute in his Gucci jacket. I like KC’S personality and how she always stays humble. She is still that around-the-way girl who made it out of the ghetto but still reps for the people in the struggle. Below are some excerpts:

Daniel on how he shows love to his wife:

Keyshia’s been through a lot with her mother and her family; so her whole make up is built around being a strong woman.  I’m just trying to show her that I can be there for her.”

Keyshia on how her husband shows love to her in front of others and not afraid to show love in public:

He has a beautiful spirit. And he’s not afraid to love publicly. I think our Black men are afraid to love publicly, and I’m not a fan of that.

This issue is on newsstand now. KC is working on her new album, entitled Woman To Woman which will coincide with the premiere of her and her husband’s new reality show Keyshia & Daniel: Family First.

T.I. Covers Jet Magazine Wearing Over One Million Dollars Worth Of Black Diamonds

Grand Hustle rapper and CEO T.I. is covering this week’s edition of Jet magazine. On the cover, T.I. is draped in over one-million-dollars worth of diamonds. Below is an excerpt:

Anyone who has followed the decade-plus years that rapper, actor and multi-business owner T.I. has spent in public view would agree there isn’t much contrast between his career and a cat’s mythical life count. The 31-year-old Georgia native, born Clifford “Tip” Harris, hasn’t needed nine professional revivals per se. He has, though, consistently resuscitated his brand by repeatedly climbing out of darkness that would’ve become a grave for lesser celebrities. Remarkably, with each walk through fire, the self-proclaimed “King of the South” rose from the ashes a wiser and richer man — a broader and brighter star. “I didn’t design my tragedy, but I work hard to make sure negativity doesn’t win over positivity,” he tells JET.

Read Her Side Of The Story: LisaRaye Covers Jet Magazine & Speaks On Catfight With Stacey Dash

Successful Hollywood actress, business woman and former Premier of Turk & Caico’s LisaRaye McCoy is covering the latest issue of Jet Magazine. LisaRaye found time to take a break from filming season 2 of VH1‘s scripted show Single Ladies to chat with one of the oldest and most successful African-American publications. In the exclusive interview, LisaRaye talked about her cat fight with Stacey Dash and denied that she got her fired from the show. She also talked about her former friend, actor Duane Martin. Below are some excerpts:

On moving on without Stacey Dash who played her best friend on the show:

Believe me I wish things had worked out because I thought Stacey and I were great together.  She was my age and we were working it.  It was sex-symbol to sex-symbol.  But she didn’t want to be there.  I was disappointed about that.  She had some issues.  I’m not sure exactly what those issues were.  In the end, she and VH1 made a decision.

On the catfights that really went down on set

Yes, there was a disagreement over a scene.  And it really wasn’t with me.  It was with the director.  I think it was about 2 or 3AM and we’d been shooting all damn day.  Stacey tried to argue with the director about a line.  And I’m like: “Girl, if you don’t say what the director wants you to say.”  It wasn’t that serious at first, but it went there.

It’s a bunch of women on the set.  We might all be on our damn period at any given point.  I just wanted us to move forward.  Then the argument took on a life of its own.  The show decided to use it for publicity.  They just ran with it.

On which Hollywood friend she had to dump:

Duane Martin. I introduced him to my ex-husband [former Turks & Caicos Premier Michael Misick], he got buddy-buddy with him and then turned against me.   Just recently, this fool Duane up and sold a building he and I bought awhile ago in Los Angeles, without asking…I don’t care if we’re not friends, just don’t try to f**k me in the interim.

When I heard about him in the middle of Will & Jada’s divorce rumors, I tweeted: sounds familiar.  He really aint got enough business.

Front Page Him: Drake Covers Jet Magazine

Drake is covering the latest issue of Jet magazine (on newsstands November 28). In the cover story, Drake talks about respect in the rap game, using his music a capsule, on what Take Care means and much more. Below are a few excerpts:

On respect in the rap game.

“I think that it’s evident that I’m myself, and I think people respect me for that across the board, he says. I get respect from the guys who are respected for being real rapper’s rappers. I get respect from women. I get respect from mothers, fathers and kids. It’s very humbling and flattering and incredible, and I’m honored to be in this position because I get to be myself. And I get a lot of love for it.”

On using his music as a time capsule.

“Music is the only way that I can really vent and tell my story. It’s definitely personal. It’s definitely very vivid, detailed, and I feel it’s an incredible chapter of my life documented,” he says. “All these albums and mixtapes are just time markers for me. Pictures and social media are great, but I think the best way for me to remember real feelings that I’ve experienced is to make music about it.”

On what Take Care means to him.

“So was he feeling a bit overwhelmed “Yeah, that’s just the mode I was in. I know the album isn’t the most energetic body of work in the world. I wanted people to be with me because my life isn’t just one big party. There are moments I have where I’m by myself, and it’s very reflective,” he says. “I have a desire to come back and do some more aggressive music, because I truly enjoy those anthems and those moments as well. But I think this album is a great balance.”

On moving on to the next album.

“I think I’m very hard on myself.  I don’t really give myself too much time to be happy or celebrate. Like this album, I’m very proud of it. People are giving me great feedback, but at the same time, I’m sitting on my bus already listening to new beats. I’m trying to figure out what I could do better or what my next move is. I’m obsessed with getting better.”

Front Page: 50 Cent Covers Jet Magazine & Kelly Rowland Gracing “Essence Hot Hair” Issue

Entertainment mogul 50 Cent is covering the upcoming issue of JET magazine. In the cover story, the Queens native talked about his Street King project, relationship with his son, being a bully and his latest publication, Playground.

I was [a bully] at different points during my childhood,” said 50 Cent. “I was dealing with my emotions the wrong way. From a child’s perspective, you don’t understand. As an adult, you get that’s not the way to deal with things.”

My son is 15, and I have conversations with him about things like this. He isn’t being bullied, but he meets people who have expectations of him because of the aggressive energy that I have and the content of the material I create. They look at him like he’s supposed to be like that,” he shares. “But he’s not. He doesn’t even know what it feels like to need for something. When we didn’t have any money, he was too young to notice.”

Singer Kelly Rowland is gracing the cover of the 2nd annual issue of “Essence Hot Hair” where she admits her love for wigs.

“I’m in love with wigs. I get them custom-made, and I have my hairstylist shape them to my head. I can go from short to long in less than a minute!”
