Her Style Has Evolved! Lil Mama’s BCBGMaxAzria Runway Collection Leather Embellished Jacket & Trousers

Lil Mama slayed the green carpet at last night’s 2013 BET Hip Hop Awards. Her style has evolved over the years. I love the grown and mature Lil Mama. Last night Saturday (September 28), the 2013 BET Hip Hop Awards were taped at the Atlantic Civic Center in AtlantaSnoop Dogg served as this year’s host. The show will air Tuesday October 15 at 8pm on BET. Rapper turned TV personality Lil Mama styled on the carpet in a sold out $649 BCBGMaxAzria Runway Collection Leather Embellished Jacket with the matching trousers from the brand’s 2013 Runway Collection. Her outfit was accessorized with black sandals. I love Lil Mama’s Technicolor ensemble. The green hair looked good on her and matched what she was wearing.

Any thoughts on Lil Mama’s makeover?

This fall 2013 Lil Mama will star as Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes in VH1’s TLC’s biopic CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story alongside Keke Palmer and Drew Sidora. She is also filming a reality show with a few iconic female rappers.

VH1 Releases The Trailer To “CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story”; Plus Lil Mama To Join The Group

After selling over 65 million records worldwide, being the best-selling female R&B group of all time, and having the highest grossing tour by a female group in history; TLC is finally ready to share their story. VH1 releases the trailer to CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story. The biopic premieres on the network this Fall 2013 (October). In the film, Drew Sidora (Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins), Lil Mama (Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes) and Keke Palmer (Rozanda “Chilli” Thomas), re-enacted 90’s R&B duo TLC as they rise to fame from their early inception in Atlanta, to recording studios, live performances, the Grammy Awards and the tragic death of Left Eye. The film was shot in Atlanta and the girls are lip synching to TLC’s music.

Earlier today, T-Boz and Chilli held a press conference with Lil Mama, where they announced that the female rapper and former America’s Best Dance Crew judge will be joining them on stage, in place of Left Eye, at the ‘Mixtape Festival‘ in Hershey Park, PA this weekend.

Fashion Spread: Lil Mama Getting Loose In Mami Magazine

Rapper and TV personality Lil Mama is covering the Fall 2011 issue of Mami magazine. Lil Mama was interviewed by Mami’s magazine publisher Algie Dewitt. In the cover story, Lil Mama talked about growing up in NYC, touring with Chris Brown, losing her mother to Breast Cancer, high-end fashion and much more. Below are some excerpts:

On growing up in NYC.

I was born in Harlem and raised in Brooklyn New York. I lived with my father but I spent an equal amount of time with my mom. Being with my father enabled me to get the special attention that a girl can only get from her dad. I feel as though I have as many traits from my mom as I do from my father. They both taught me to respect and believe in myself, those priceless lessons are always with me.

On her upcoming new album and future projects.

I’m focused on my next season of MTV’s America’s Best Dance Crew and recording my next album. I’m also scheduled to make a few selected guest appearances on the “World Music for the Cure” 2012 tour. My new single “Hustla Girl” will be on the CD compilation for the breast cancer tour. This song is a powerful tribute to the women out there on their grind getting it done.

Dope Or Nope? Lil Mama Ft. Snoop Dogg “NY NY LA LA”

One hit wonder Lil Mama is taking another chance at rapping. The Brooklyn native recently released a HORRIBLE new track titled “NY NY LA LA” Ft. Snoop Dogg. On this track, the former Jive Records recording artist mixes East Coast bang with West Coast slang. Sorry, Lil Mama and Snoop but both of y’all verses are WACK! Lil Mama should just stick to judging on ABDC. Listen at your own risk below:

Dope or Nope; are you guys feeling this track?

Lil’ Mama Says Nicki Minaj Copied Her Style, “I’m Flattered Because She Imitated Me”

Femcee/MTV‘s America’s Best Dance Crew host Lil Mama has been silent on the music scenes; since her 2009 MTV stage crash. A few weeks ago, some critics were criticizing Mama for channeling Nicki Minaj because of her blond cut wig and high heels. Vibe recently spoke to Mama. During the interview, the Brooklyn native said Nicki Minaj copied her style, discussed on why you should stop hating on her style, her next music moves, influences and unity in female Hip Hop. Below are some excerpts from Mama’s interview with Vibe:

Interesting thing is that leftfield style is actually becoming more of the norm. How do you react to folks saying your biting Nicki Minaj and Lady Gaga?
Come on, let’s be real okay. You have all these people wearing different colored hair. At the end of the day I’m a bombshell, so I’m going to do me. If I want to go platinum, I’m going platinum. Let’s not forget that we have had people doing these things way before the people who are doing it now and let’s also not forget that the black community sometimes we really hang ourselves because every time another black female gets up there and does something that may be current, we criticize each other and try to put each other down, but when Katy Perry and Lady Gaga do it, they all eat. But I’m not going to be a part of that. I’m going to do me, regardless.

Very valid point… I think the biggest style criticism was thrown at you this past MTV Movie Awards. Bunch of people thought you jacked Nicki’s haircut.
But my cut is blunt and futuristic and Nicki Minaj started wearing that bob on her head after she came to my show, so at the end of the day I know what I do and I know what I possess and I know who I am. I’m a trendsetter. The biggest form of flattery is imitation so I’m flattered. I understand the universal law. I’m not confused, I don’t feel like a follower. I started so many things that new artists are doing now anyway –my style, the way I’m aggressive on a track, the way I come through, the way my beat bangs. There are so many things that were borrowed, that I influenced that’s happening in music right, so I’m far from discouraged.
