Bidding War: Birdman Is Trying His Hardest To Sign Chief Keef To YMCMB

If you follow my blog, you should already know that music mogul Birdman is interested in signing up & coming Chicago rapper Chief Keef to YMCMB. Word in the industry is that the 16-year-old rapper will soon be flying down to Miami to meet with Birdman. Kanye West and his G.O.O.D. Music crew had remixed his “I Don’t Like” single. The other day, during “RapFix Live,” Birdman revealed that he is working on bringing Chief Keef to the roster. “I like him, he kinda reminds me of us,” said Birdman. “[He’s] out the streets, I think he’s swagged up and I’m definitely talking to his people and I’d like to see if we can make it pop, see if I can see if I can get him to be down with the team.”

That’s what I like, it’s a movement and he’s young, I think the game needs young blood all the time. [We] need youngsters to keep it innovative, because they’re new and creative in their own way. I’m into the young world, that’s my thing. And I’ma do whatever it takes to make it happen,” Birdman added.

Trouble Man: T.I. New Album Is Almost Done

Rapper T.I., who just dropped his new mixtape, F**k Da City Up, is gearing up to release his forthcoming LP, Entitled Trouble Man. T.I. recorded over 70 tracks for the album and said it is about 75% done.

“The album is about 75 percent done. We got a lot of hot, old-school, vintage T.I. records on there,” T.I.  MTV News back in December. “I’m talking like gutter, gangsta, intellectual ignorance, hard-core stadium sh–, but at the same time we got those over-the-top crossover records as well, big features and whatnot that we plan on putting into play.”

I got one with Akon, did a few records with Rico Love. Man, I got records with just about everybody,” he said. “We just putting it together, we done did about 70 records. So now we’re in the narrowing-down process. So we’ll narrow them down, we’ll do probably about 15 more,” added T.I.

T.I.have been on his music grind, since being released from prison, this past fall. He appeared on Meek Mill’s “Ima Boss (Remix)” and 2 Chainz’s “Spend It (Remix).” Trouble Man is scheduled to hit stores and online this spring.

As I previous reported, Nicki Minaj Minaj will be making an announcement this September about her new album, which is set to hit stores and online sometime in 2012. In an interview with MTV News, Minaj revealed that she will not be hitting up anybody for features for her upcoming album.

I don’t know, I don’t think I’m hitting up anybody for features for this sophomore album. But I never give away all my secrets,” says Minaj.

She did confirm that it is possible, however, for her alter ego, Roman, to make an appearance on the album.

TM103: Young Jeezy Says His New Album Is Influenced By The Economic Decline & Tupac

This past Monday (July 25), Def Jam rapper Young Jeezy celebrated the six-year anniversary of his debut album Thug Motivation 101, at the Highline Ballroom in NYC. During the end of Jeezy’s show, he announced that his new album Thug Motivation 103 will be out September 20. In a recent interview with MTV, Jeezy talked about how the economic decline and the words of Tupac influenced his upcoming album. I like how Jeezy mixes politics with street music.

On when he dropped TM 101 money was so plentiful.

TM 101 dropped at a time when money was so plentiful that you could’ve had too much of it at some point, and everybody was happy,” he said. “Everybody was flamboyant, everybody was living, and nowadays it ain’t like that. So when I dropped TM 101, my whole focus was, ‘We’re gonna get this money and that’s what it’s about. We’re gonna get this money, we’re gonna live life, we’re gonna have fun.’”

On TM 103 and maintaining the money he has.

The evolution of that [with] 103 is more sort of like situations, like, ‘OK, yeah we got to the money, we lost it two or three times, but what are we gonna do to maintain? Are we gonna maintain? Are we gonna get back? Are we gonna stay focused on the get back, or we gonna get off track? Are we gonna pay attention to what they’re talkin’ about, or pay attention to what we need to do?’ That’s what the evolution is about.”

On Tupac’s words and music influencing his new album.

It’s about knowing what to do. When I was growin’ up and I was listening to ‘Pac, all his situations apply to me today,” he noted. “I never knew that, I was just listening to the music and I thought it was good music. Everything that he said applies to me today. Keep your enemies close, money over bitches – that’s real talk.”

In an interview with MTVNews.com, Harlem’s rapper Cam’ron revealed that he and Vado are done recording their upcoming mixtape Bosses Of  All Bosses 3. Also, Killa Cam talked about turning Vado into a “mega superstar.” Below are some excerpts of Killa Cam’s interview with MTV:

This summer (late July, early August), Killa Cam and Vado will be dropping the third installment of the mixtape sequel. This time around, the mixtape is titled, Boss of All Bosses 3, and will drop on Fontana Records (Universal Music’s independent arm).

“The Boss of All Bosses 3 that me and Vado did is done,” he revealed. “It’s coming out in stores through Fontana, so we’re just trying to get the date locked in, but it’s done.”

Killa Cam wants to make Vado a “mega superstar.”

I think it’s still early. I’m happy he got his deal, I’m happy everybody’s aware of him, I’m happy he’s turned into a superstar, but I want to make him into a mega, mega superstar,” he said.

After signing a deal with Interscope Records back in April, Killa Cam is hoping his protégé  Vado gets more than just hometown support.

It was great, but we still have a lot more work to do,” the Dipset CEO said backstage at Summer Jam. “I appreciate everybody showing him love, and he’s hot, but he hasn’t even put an album out yet. I want to do three, four, five albums and come back and talk.”
