Paul George For Slam Magazine

paulgeorgeslam3

NBA player Paul George of the Indiana Pacers is covering the latest issue of Slam magazine. The 23-year-old Palmdale, CA-native didn’t play big-time AAU ball until the summer after his junior year of high school and didn’t star on his high school team until he was a senior. He ultimately ended up going 10th in the 2010 NBA Draft. He’s now the face of the first-place team in the east. And he’s still not satisfied.

This is definitely where I want to be, but it’s not where I want to end at,” says George. “I want to be MVP. I want to be Defensive Player of the Year. I want to be First-Team All-NBA. I want to be a Gold medalist. I want to be a hall of famer. I want to be a Champion. Everything that’s the highest or the greatest that you can do, I want to do that.”

Paulette George (Paul’s mother) and his grandmother always knew that he would be special from the moment he was born on May 2, 1990:

My grandmother, she’s passed away some years now, always used to say, ‘That baby’s going to be special,’” says Paulette. “I was like, ‘Really?’ She said, ‘Yeah. When kids have pinholes in their ears that means they’re gonna be special.’”

Pacers rookie Solomon Hill said, “Paul’s mentality is what makes him so good . “His mentality that he wants to be the best two-way player. It’s that he’s not just about scoring; he wants to get stops as well. When you have guy like that, it really shows you the bigger picture. It’s not about trying to put up as many points as you can; it’s about being efficient on the offensive end and stopping your player. That’s something that’s really different about him.”

NBA player Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors is covering the upcoming issue of Slam magazine. On the cover, the Akron, Ohio-native is decked out in his team uniform paired with Under Armour sneakers. Stay tuned to YDBR for excerpts and highlights. This issue hits newsstand next week. A bit on Curry below via Don Bleek.

Curry attended Charlotte Christian School in Charlotte, NC and played for their basketball team. There he was named All-State, All-Conference, and the team MVP. He also led his team to three conference titles and three state playoff appearances.

For college, Curry attended Davidson College and played for the Wildcats from 2006-2009. He led the nation in scoring with 28.6 points per game in 2008-2009. He was named Southern Conference Player of the Year twice. Curry left Davidson College after his junior year to enter the 2009 NBA Draft and in that same year, he was selected 7th overall by the Golden State Warriors. In the 2012-13 season, Curry set the NBA record for three-pointers made in a regular season with 272 made three pointers.

Derrick Rose For SLAM Magazine; “My Only Goal Is To Win A Championship”

derrickrosecover

NBA player Derrick Rose of the Chicago Bulls is back and he’s covering the upcoming issue of SLAM magazine. Stay tuned to YDBR for more photos and quotes from SLAM’s exclusive interview with D. Rose.

This is such a dope cover! D. Rose is my second favorite NBA player (Carmelo Anthony is my favorite). I honestly want to see D. Rose win a championship because he deserves it. I just think that Rose needs more help because he is not able to increase his teammate’s level of play like LeBron James and Rajon Rondo. The Bulls needs another power player,” said Don Bleek.

Watch My Kicks: Carmelo Anthony Rocking Air Jordan 4 “Red Suede”; Plus Covers SLAM November 2012 Issue

Carmelo Anthony is my favorite NBA player, y’all CAN’T tell me NOTHING! The New York Knicks small forward is featured on the cover of SLAM Magazine’s November 2012 issue. Standing on a rooftop at Manhattan’s Ace Hotel, for an exclusive interview and photo shoot, Melo rocked a pair of his Air Jordan 4 “Red Suede” paired with a black ‘Flight’ Air Jordan tee-shirt and cargo pants. This has been a busy summer for Melo. He participated in 2012 ‘Olympics’ in London and he recently held his Charity Baseball Game in Puerto Rico.

Melo’s official SLAM Magazine November 2012 issue below:

Excerpt from Melo’s SLAM cover story:Whether he’s had the right coaches or teammates, there’s no debating the fact that Carmelo hasn’t won enough in his two truncated seasons here. In fact, I know some big Knick fans who have all but given up on deep Playoff runs with Carmelo. “Great scorer, and our best player,” they’ll say. “But this guy is not a winner, and he’s not a leader.” Melo’s horrendous Playoff winning percentage doesn’t exactly offer much in the way of refutation, either.”
