Special Tribute Issue: XXL Honors 15-Year Anniversary of Tupac Shakur’s Death in Sept. Issue

This upcoming September 13, 2011 will mark the 15-year anniversary of Tupac Shakur’s death and the #1 best-selling music magazine XXL pays tribute to one of the greatest, if not the greatest rapper in their forthcoming “Special Tribute Issue.” They’re celebrating the life of Pac.

In this issue, XXL Editor-In-Chief Vanessa Satten sat down with Tupac’s biological father, Bill Garland.

[Tupac] cared for people,” he said. “That was his main thing. He really cared for people. I think that’s why he would get so upset when people tried to question his commitment, his love for Black women or Black men. The East Coast/West Coast, you know, that’s a fabrication. I don’t have to begin to tell you that. So when that was questioned, it bothered him. Because he would give his heart or soul. He was a giving person. He would give anything to people. He would go in a store. [If there was a] Black man who couldn’t afford a $1,500 pair of boots, he would buy ’em for him. Think that Black man would ever forget Tupac? That’s just the way he is. But I don’t think that he did it for that. He did it because he had it, and he didn’t. That’s the way he is.”-Bill Garland

The  September 2011 issue, will be hitting newststands nationwide on August 16.

17 Years Later: Jimmy Henchman Associate Admits to Shooting Tupac; Apologizes To Pac & B.I.G.’s Mothers

Almost 17 years later, which is also one day before ‘Pac’s 40th birthday, convicted felon, murdered and robber Dexter Isaac, admits to shooting Tupac in the lobby of Quad Studio on November 7, 1994. Isaac is a former friend of music exec Jimmy Henchmen, who paid Dexter $2,500 for the hit; according to reports. Below is how AllHipHop.Com is reporting the story:

A man has admitted to shooting rap star Tupac Shakur in 1994 after allegedly being paid $2,500 dollars by James “Jimmy Henchman” Rosemond inside Manhattan’s Quad Studios in November of 1994.

Dexter Isaac, a former friend of Rosemond, is an inmate currently serving life in prison for murder, robbery and other offenses.

He confessed to his involvement in the November 30th, 1994 shooting of Tupac Shakur to AllHipHop.com, after Jimmy Henchman identified him in a statement, relating to Henchman’s indictment for dealing numerous kilos of cocaine.

“I want to apologize to his family [Tupac Shakur] and for the mistake I did for that sucker [Jimmy Henchman],” Dexter Isaac told AllHipHop.com from prison. “I am trying to clean it up to give [Tupac and Biggie’s] mothers some closure.”
