Dope Or Nope? J. Cole Rocks A Dolce & Gabbana Drink Coca Cola Tee-Shirt

Over this past weekend, Roc Nation’s J. Cole attended an after party at PHD at The Dream hotel in Manhattan. For the star-studded event which was also attended by Beyoncé & Jay-Z, Rihanna & Drake, and Rocsi Diaz & Jamie Foxx , the “Power Trip” rapper rocked a Dolce & Gabbana Drink Coca Cola Tee-Shirt. The shirt that J. Cole wore is most likely sold out because I was not able to find it. Below are two similar versions of J. Cole’s shirt. 

Back in June, J. Cole dropped his latest offering, Born Sinner. The album debuted at #2 on Billboard Top 200 and has been certified gold by the RIAA. This Fall 2013, he will embark on a North America ‘What Dreams May Come True‘ tour with Wale. See official dates here.

J. Cole And Nas Cover VIBE Summer 2013 Issue

VIBE’s upcoming 20th anniversary issue is a double cover. Robin Thicke and Janelle Monare are gracing the R&B-flavored cover while Nas and J. Cole are covering the Hip Hop-flavored cover. Inside, music editor John Kennedy talks to Nasir and Jermaine about the bromance between the two dope lyricists, other collaborations in the works and much more. Below is an excerpt:

Are You Going To This Concert? J. Cole & Wale Announce ‘What Dreams May Come True’ Tour

They both came into the game around the same time, they’re both signed to Roc Nation (Wale is signed to Roc Nation Management), they’re both good friends, they’re both chart-topping rappers and now they’re both about to go on tour together. The Born Sinner (J. Cole) rapper and The Gifted (Wale) emcee just announced the dates for the Fall 2013 ‘What Dreams May Come True‘ tour. The North America trek kicks off September 10 in Miami at the James L. Knight Center. The duo will also hit more arenas and theatres across the country in major market cities including Chicago, Houston, Atlanta, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Toronto, New Orleans, Charlotte, Pittsburgh, and other cities before wrapping up on October 30 in Seattle at the Paramount Theatre. Tickets go on sales to the general public this Friday (August 2) at jcolemusic.com, Ticketmaster.com and axs.com.

Compton-breed emcee Kendrick Lamar took off his signature all black for a cleaner-upscale look which appears in the latest issue of BULLET. The good kid in a m.A.A.D city styled in upscale designers including Alexander Wang, Kenzo, HBA, Jeremy Scott and more. Below is an excerpt:

“Kendrick Lamar realized his life had changed while backstage at one of his sold-out shows. “Let’s see,” he says, trying to paint the picture. “Dre’s there. Snoop is in the room. Beautiful women are in the room. Homeboys are in the room, and everyone’s just mingling, man. It’s one of those moments when you’re like, I’m really a rapper now.” He laughs to himself, the way one does when describing the convergence of fantasy and reality. “Shit like that trips you out,” he says. ‘Even just walking onto your tour bus and seeing a full-blown studio in there, you’re like, Damn, I’m really doing this shit.’”

J. Cole Speaks On Taking A Risk With His New Single “Miss America” & How He Wants To CHANGE Mainstream Hip-Hop

While on the red carpet at this year’s American Music Awards, Roc Nation rapper J Cole chatted with Billboard. During his interview, the St. John’s University alumni talked about his new single “Miss America” and how wanted to “change the conversation” in mainstream Hip-Hop. The track is featured on his sophomore album, Born Sinner. The single received mixed reviews from music critics and Cole himself admitted that he is taking a risk with the release of the track.

On his new single “Miss America” and how he wanted to “change the conversation” in mainstream Hip-Hop:

“We have a responsibility and a certain power that comes with making the music and playing the music, and that comes with a responsibility to keep things fresh, and not to fall into the mold of what’s traditional,” says Cole. “I have singles that fall into that [mold], but if I can use my power in some kind of way, I’m going to try to use it to shift culture just a little bit.”

A January 28th (J. Cole’s birthday) release date was set for Born Sinner, the follow-up to Cole’s gold-selling debut album, Cold World: The Sideline Story which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart and sold over 217,000 copies in its first week. However, the album may not be hitting stores until after that date.

“In a perfect world, I’ll shoot for January 28,” says Cole, “but even when I released that, honestly I knew that was very far-fetched.”

Cole’s sophomore album may be pushed back because he plans to work on different branding opportunities to coincide with the album as well as a short film–“something way more expansive than a music video,” he claims — that will begin shooting in December.

 On his new album being a more serious effort than his debut:

 “The story of corruption — corruption of an artist when commercial appeal is involved, or corruption of a relationship when temptation is involved, or corruption of a government when capitalism is involved. It’s a lot of things. I don’t want anybody to think it’s so heavy, but it deals with those things.”

Diggy Simmons “Fall Down (J. Cole Diss)”; Plus Diggy Is DROPPING A New Mixtape, Entitled ‘OUT OF THIS WORLD’

This kid is just too dope! Somebody better tell J. Cole to take Diggy Simmons serious because Diggy is getting the BEST of J. Cole. I think J. Cole might need Jay-Z’s assistant. And the drama continues! After J. Cole threw a subliminal shot at Diggy in a freestyle at Kendrick Lamar’s show in North Carolina, the Jettsetter returns with a career killer called “Fall Down (J. Cole Diss)”. New York’s Power 105‘s Breakfast Club premiered the track this morning. Diggy is also gearing up to drop his new mixtape, entitled Out Of This World. The mixtape will arrive soon.
