Dope Music: Young Chris Ft. Eve, Black Thought, Money Malc, Fat Joe, Fred The Godson, Diggy Simmons, Jermaine Dupri & Game “Philly”(Mega Mix)

Division 1/Universial Motown recording artist Young Chris took it around the globe for “Philly S**t” (Mega Mix) Ft. Eve, Black Thought, Money Malc, Fat Joe, Fred The Godson, Diggy Simmons, Jermaine Dupri & Game. This remix goes hard and is one of the hottest remix that I’ve heard since G-Dep “Special Delivery.” This s**t is dope. Chris is in the studio working on his debut solo album dropping sometime this year. Listen to the track below.

The Hottest 5 Rap Chicks To Come Out Under An All Male Crew

Every since Hip-Hop emerged back in 1978, almost ever female emcee came out under an all male crew.  Lady of Rage, Diamond, Trina, Da Brat, Mia X, Roxane Shante, Yo-Yo and a lot of other female rappers came in the game as the protegé of a male rapper. Regardless who they came up under,  every female emcee still had to define themselves as an artist in order to stay relevant and sell records. The only female emcee that I can think of in a long time that didn’t come up under an all male crew is Lil Mama. I came up with a list of “The Hottest 5 Rap Chicks To Come Out Under An All Male Crew.” Peep my list below.

Name: Lauryn Hill

Reppin: East Orange, New Jersey

Affiliation: Wyclef Jean, Pras & Fugees

Albums sold: 24 million

It been three weeks since you been looking for your friend, the one you let hit and never called you again.” Hands down this five times Grammy Award winning rapper/singer from South Orange, New Jersey is the greatest female rapper to ever do it. L-Boogie first risen to fame in the late 90’s with underground Hip-Hop trio Fugees. In 1994, Fugees (Wyclef Jean, Lauyrn Hill and Pras) released their debut underground Hip-Hop LP Blunted On Reality. Even though “Nappy Heads” (Mona Lisa) and “Vocab” was two dope songs on the underground tip, the album didn’t gain mainstream success. It was Fugees 1996 LP The Score to put them on the map. The album sold over six million copies worldwide (according to the RIAA), won a Grammy award and peaked #1 on Billboard 200 charts. The album featured productions from John Forte, Salaam Remi, Shawn King, Diamond and Jerry Duplessis and had guest appearances from Rah Digga and Young Zee. The group disbanded in 1997 and L-Boogie went solo with the released of The Miseducation Of Lauyrn Hill. The album was released on August 25, 1998 and sold 422,624 copies in the first week, which still holds the record for the highest first week debut from a female Hip-Hop solo artist. As of today, the album has sold over 18 million copies worldwide and won 5 Grammy Awards. “Doo Wop” (That Thing) reached #1 on the Billboard charts; while “Ex-Factor,” “Lost One,” and “Everything Is Everything” all reached the top 40 on Billboard charts.

Name: Lil Kim

Reppin: Bed-Stuy Brooklyn, New York

Affiliation: Biggie Smalls and Junior Mafia

Albums sold: 5 million

What Kim done for female Hip-Hop is unbelievable and can never be done again. Before Kim came in the music industry, female rappers were rapping in boy clothes with boots and at that time were being hardcore femcees. Kim broke that barrier by introducing a sexy side to female Hip-Hop and made it cool for females to talk about how they get f**ked. Kim has platinum and gold albums under her belt. Kim made her debut with Junior Mafia in the early 90’s. The group dropped their debut album Conspiracy in 1994. “Player’s Anthem” and “Get Money” both reached the top 20 on Billboard charts and the album went gold. Kim’s debut solo album Hardcore  was released in November 1996 and went on to sell over two-million copies worldwide. The lead single from the album “No Time” Ft. Puff Daddy reached the top spot on Billboard Hot Rap Tracks chart. In June 2000, Kim’s  released her second album The Notorious Kim, which debuted at #4 on Billboard 200 and #1 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Song Charts and was certified platinum by the RIAA. In 2001, Kim received her first #1 debut on Billboard Hot 100 for “Lady Marmalade” with Christina Aguilera, Pink and Mya. The song stayed at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts for five weeks and won a Grammy. In March 2003, Kim released her third album La Bella Mafia. The album lead single “The Jumpoff” reached # 16 on the Billboard Hot 100 and the second single “Magic Stick” Ft. 50 Cent reached # 2, helping the album go platinum. Kim won two Source Awards (Female Hip-Hop Artist of the Year and Female Single of the Year) and was nominated for two Grammys for this album. While serving a year in prison, Kim’s fourth album The Naked Truth  was released in September 2005. The album debuted at # 6 on the Billboard 200 charts, which became Kim’s third top 10 album. Even though the album failed to reached gold status, it was rated 5 Mics in The Source magazine,  making her the only female rapper to ever received a 5 mics rating. Lil Kim’s reality show Lil Kim: Countdown To Lockdown became the highest rated premiere in BET history, with 1.7 million viewers .

Dope Video: Jim Jones “Going In For The Kill”

On this track Jim Jones is “Going In For The Kill.” I like how Jim is flowing to the beat on this song. Lyrically, Jim stepped his game up. I never foreseen Jim becoming as big as he is as a rapper. In the clip, Jimmy kept it Harlem as usual by having his homies, dope cars, fly clothes and risk full of diamonds on in the video. The track is featured on Jimmy latest mixtape Capo Life. U.N./Dipset rapper Vado made a guest appearance in the video; which was directed by S. Franchize. Jim is gearing up to released his upcoming LP Capo. Peep the video below.

Jim Jones’s new album Capo will be in stores and online this spring.

I Wish I Can Bring The 80’s Back: Hip-Hop Trends & Fashion From The 80’s

Honestly, I’m just a 22 years old male that’s still stuck in the 80’s. I was born in 1988, which is exactly 10 years after Hip-Hop emerged in 1978. If I can describe myself in one word it will be “DOPE.” My definition of DOPE is anything that is described as cool such as blogging, music, education, safe sex, fashion, sneakers or just a person in general. What I love about the 80’s is the fashion, sneakers, music, the cookouts, parties and the lifestyle in general. In my opinion, I think Hip-Hop brought people of all  races together as one, helped with reducing racism and gave people jobs without a college degree.

The five elements of Hip-Hop are DJing, Mcing, Graffiti, Break dancing and Beatboxing. Kurtis Blow was one of the first commercially successful rappers and the first to signed a record deal; with Mercury Records back in 1979.

Lil Wayne Is Pretty Much Finished With Tha Carter IV, Plus He Shot A Video With Hype Williams

In a recent interview with XXLmag.com Young Money President Mack Maine said that he and Lil Wayne  was in the studio all night and Wayne is pretty much done with his forthcoming LP Tha Carter IV; they just have about to more joints to record.

I was in the studio all night workin’ on this Carter IV.” “We pretty much finished, to be honest; we probably need about two more songs. We got David Banner coming in tonight, so hopefully he’ll come with somethin’. We try to make sure—he kind of makes every album. He made Tha Carter III, and made [We Are Young Money].”

Nicki Minaj and Drake both will be appearing on the album; but the biggest guest surprise is the surprise collabo that Wayne has on the album but Mack Maine didn’t reveal who it was. Wayne also just wrapped up a video with Hype Williams.

I’m gonna keep the features a surprise,” he said, before revealing that Weezy “just did something with somebody he never worked with, though.”  “[Wayne] actually shot his first video with Hype Williams, which is big. We just finished a four-day video shoot, which is like a movie to me.”

As of press, the album still does not have a released date.
